Lots of Line Movement on BSC Futures

You can't win the BCS Championship in one game, but you can lose it in one game, so the saying goes. No one knows that as well as the Michigan Wolverines, who dropped their game on Saturday to D1-AA Appalachian State as the No. 5 team in the country. Since then they have taken the biggest drop in the history of the Top 25 polls as they dropped out of the polls altogether.
Not only did they drop in the polls, but they went from 8-1 college football odds to win the National Championship Game to 100-1, according to SPORTSBETTING.COM.
Michigan wasn't the only squad to step on the field to open the college football season only to finish their game with big dreams dashed.
A quick glance at the BSC odds (futures) after opening weekend at SPORTSBETTING.COM provides a look into how teams are fairing heading for Week 2 of the college football season.
Notre Dame dropped from 60-1 to 300-1 after getting smacked around by Georgia Tech. Needless to say it'll be a major miracle if Notre Dame recovers to win the National Championship.
Another team that faltered and had a big change in odds was Tennessee, who got dominated by Cal. The Vols went from 45-1 to 100-1 odds to win the final game of the year.
There are a group of teams that looked impressive and received low odds when the new numbers came out. The Bears went from 60-1 up to 20-1 after a big victory on opening weekend. LSU, Oklahoma State and Penn State all moved higher up as well.
Undoubtedly, there will be more swings after this weekend's games. And speaking of the matchups on tap this week, here are a few we'll be looking at:
Will there be another disappointment for Michigan this week? They host Oregon on Saturday and are installed as an eight-point favorite. The thought is that we will see a much better effort in front of the home fans and that last week's loss was a wake-up call. We'll see. The bettors at SPORTSBETTING.COM are following those thoughts thus far, as Michigan is getting 75 percent of the action in this game.
Notre Dame is going with freshman Jimmy Clausen in their game against Penn State. The Irish are 17.5-point underdogs on the road this Saturday. Another thrashing like last weekend's 33-3 embarrassment by Georgia Tech and that 10-year extension for Coach Weis might start to look somewhat long (by about 9 ½ years). Bettors seem to have soured on the Irish and most of the early money this week has been in favor of Penn State.
Most of the handle this Saturday will come in on the No. 2 LSU vs. No. 9 Virginia Tech game in Blacksburg. The Tigers are 13-point favorites over a Hokie team that has much of the nation pulling for them after the tragedy that took place there earlier this year. The Tigers are big favorites with the bettors at SPORTSBETTING.COM as well, as almost 80 percent think they will cover the spread.
It will be another entertaining weekend of college action.
