Monday marks the end of the college football season and this has been one of the wackiest years in a long time. Even commentator Beano Cooke, who's been watching college football since the days when Navy used to play on New Year's Day, states that he can't remember a season like this.
There is still one major game to be played before all is said and done - the BCS Championship on Monday night.
Of course, we also have two more bowl games to go before the big one. These are the type of bowl games only family, friends and school faithful really care about…oh…and of course us bettors care to.
The International Bowl, matching up Rutgers and Ball State, kicks-off Saturday. Rutgers is a 10.5-point favorite. As one might expect, Rutgers is getting most of the attention from the betting public, as 83 percentage of the players at SPORTSBETTING.COM are placing their fortunes in the hands of the Scarlet Knights.
The GMAC Bowl follows on Sunday, pitting Tulsa vs. Bowling Green. Tulsa is a 4.5-point favorite, with a very lofty Over/Under number of 76. Tulsa is receiving 70 percent of the betting action, while that huge total is attracting mostly "Under" tickets, at a clip of 80 percent.
The grand finale goes Monday night, when the BCS Championship Game settles the question of who will end up No. 1 this year.
The two-loss LSU Tigers are a 4-point favorite over the one-loss Ohio State Buckeyes. The general consensus is that the SEC is a better conference overall than the Big 10 (sorry Big 10 lovers, but it's true)…however, that certainly doesn't mean the Big 10's best team can't beat LSU in this matchup.
They can…and might. They need a victory here after the spanking they took last year in this game at the hands of the SEC Florida Gators.
Some trends of note of the big game:
Ohio State is 4-1 ATS in their last five bowl games. They are 3-0 ATS the last three times they have been an underdog in a bowl game.
In their last six bowl games, Ohio State has combined to score more points than the total of 48.5 currently set on this matchup.
LSU is 6-2 ATS in their last eight bowl games and are 3-1 ATS as a favorite.
Bettors like the SEC side in this matchup right now, as LSU is seeing 75 percent of the wagering action.
Enjoy the games.
