Bookmaker’s Corner: Week 12 College Football Betting Notes
by Richard Gardner | Bodog Sportsbook Manager - 11/17/2009

Texas Quarterback Colt McCoy.

As we head into Week 12 in college football, here are a few betting notes from the Bodog Sportsbook:

We’re still offering BCS National Championship odds on the following teams: Texas (6/5) and Florida (5/4) are the current favorites, followed by Alabama (2/1), TCU (10/1), Boise State (30/1) and Cincinnati (35/1). Considering that all six teams are currently undefeated, it should be interesting to see which two will finish the season on that high note.

As expected, we are seeing the heaviest futures action on Florida.  The Gators will need to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship Game and then whoever they play in the national championship game, likely Texas, if they hope to retain the title of national champion.

The Longhorns are also drawing a fair amount of betting interest, as many believe they’ve got an easier path to the title game than Florida.

Looking to this week’s matchups, Saturday’s Ohio State and Michigan game should be a big one for bettors. The Buckeyes have already clinched a spot in the Rose Bowl, so this one really means the most for the Wolverines, who will be playing at home as double-digit underdogs to their biggest rivals and looking to become bowl eligible in the process.

“It’s exciting for a lot of reasons. One, is it’s Ohio State-Michigan and there’s nothing like it,” Tressel said “Two, it’s your last regular season game and you’d like to think that you’re going to be playing your best football in all phases, offensively, defensively, special teams, and we’ve certainly got a lot of work to do for that to be the case, but we’re looking forward to a great week of preparation. Our kids are excited.”

The rivalry means that much, even if on paper it’s lost a bit of its luster.
