NFL Week 12 Betting Recap at Bodog

Our players gave a lot of thanks on Thanksgiving. Much of it to the New England Patriots, who went into Detroit and hammered the Lions, 45-24, easily covering the 7.5 points they were giving. The game was very heavily bet, so you can imagine Bodog took a fairly large hit on that one.
We did make up for it a bit in the New Orleans-Dallas game, which the Saints won by three, failing to cover the 6 points. The Super Bowl champs have convincingly won back the support of bettors in recent weeks since getting off to a slow start, and I expect that to continue into next week when they travel to Cincinnati to play the woeful Bengals, who we've installed as 7-point home underdogs. We'll have to see if Cincy is motivated to appease its fans after the Buffalo collapse two weeks ago.
As for Sunday's action, some of you might be surprised to learn that players are still betting big on the Minnesota Vikings. And that was a smart move as the Vikes (-2) went into Washington and beat the Redskins, 17-12. Hey, maybe Brad Childress was the problem all along.
The public also did well when the Kansas City Chiefs (-2) absolutely destroyed the Seahawks, 42-24, in Seattle. For the 'Hawks, it was their fourth loss in five outings and it says a lot that they're only 6-point home favorites over the visiting Carolina Panthers (1-10) this week. The NFC West truly is an embarrassment. That one of those four teams (with a combined record of 17-27) will make the playoffs is a travesty considering the number of teams in the other three NFC divisions with winning records, a few of which will miss the playoffs.
Moving on to a couple of underdogs that paid off for the book on Sunday. First up, the Buffalo Bills, who were getting 7 points at home to the Steelers. Pittsburgh, of course, won 19-16 in overtime, thanks to the hands (or lack thereof) belonging to Bills receiver Stevie Johnson. Buffalo has been making its backers a lot of money the past few weeks, so it'll be interesting to see how the betting goes this Sunday when the Bills play in Minnesota.
The other underdog that we liked on Sunday was the Chicago Bears (+3.5), who beat the red-hot Eagles 31-26 at Soldier Field. The Bears have now won four straight and will look to make it five on Sunday in Detroit. Considering Chicago's schedule to close out the season, you could almost say this one's a must-win. After the Lions, the Bears get the Patriots, Vikings, Jets and Packers.
