CFL Picks: Grey Cup Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/20/2012
I preview a lot of games every year, but this one is more special than most. I can see the home field of the Calgary Stampeders, McMahon Stadium, from my office window. It is close enough that I can stumble home with ease no matter how many strong Canadian beers I have had during the game — something I have proven more than once. These are my hometown boys.

Usain Bolt vs. Yohan Blake Olympic Props Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 8/1/2012
With all due respect to the Michael Phelps-Ryan Lochte duel, the great story of 17-year-old American swimmer Missy Franklin and the U.S. men’s basketball team laying waste to every team in its path, the biggest and most-anticipated single event in the 2012 London Olympics is the men’s 100-meter dash to anoint the fastest man on earth.

London Olympics Men’s and Women’s Tennis Odds and Betting Picks
by Alan Matthews - 7/13/2012
Much like in golf, there is usually a lull of at least a few weeks in tennis following a Grand Slam tournament before all of the big names reconvene at the next big event. And that lull is usually a bit longer after Wimbledon because that tournament comes so closely on the heels of the French Open.

World Series of Poker Odds and WSOP Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 7/6/2012
The World Series of Poker, a month and a half of high-stakes poker action in Las Vegas, winds down starting on Saturday when the epic Main Event gets underway. That’s where literally thousands of people pay $10,000 each for a shot at winning it all — millions of dollars and fame in the poker world. The Main Event is the biggest event on the poker calendar, though it has been muted somewhat this year since Antonio Esfandiari just won more than $18 million in the richest poker tournament ever — a $1 million buy-in event that finished on Tuesday.

2012 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest: Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 7/2/2012
As a Canadian I don’t celebrate the Fourth of July, but a lot of what you all do down there to celebrate — barbecues, parties, fireworks and fun — sounds great to me. In fact, this week I’ll be jealous as you do that while I sit in my office and work like any Wednesday.

2012 Tour de France Predictions and Betting Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 6/28/2012
It’s going to be a bit of a strange Tour de France this time around. Lance Armstrong is in the second year of his retirement. Alberto Contador is serving a doping suspension. Andy Schleck is out with an injury. There is still no shortage of talent, but the biggest names in recent editions of the race are not going to be there. That just makes things more interesting from a betting perspective.

2012 Euro Predictions: Portugal vs. Spain Betting Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 6/26/2012
This is a grudge match between Iberian Peninsula neighbors, and with a berth in the Euro 2012 finals on the line stakes couldn’t be higher. Portugal is looking to make a major international breakthrough while Cristiano Ronaldo is still in his prime, while Spain is looking to continue their ridiculous string of international success that started four years ago in this tournament.

The last of the Euro 2012 quarterfinals will take place at 2:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 24, in Kiev, Ukraine. England will be the more comfortable team in the stadium as they already have one game there under their belts — their wildly entertaining 3-2 win over Sweden.

Euro 2012 Elimination Round Odds and Betting Preview
by Trevor Whenham - 6/20/2012
The group stage of Euro 2012 is over and just eight teams remain with a shot for the championship. For the most part there aren’t many surprises. Portugal taking the spot most had penciled the Dutch into is a mild upset but far from a major shock, and any two teams could have come out of Group A. The other two groups went exactly to form.

Betting on Euro 2012: Germany vs. Greece Odds and Quarterfinals Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 6/20/2012
The second quarterfinal match of Euro 2012 will be played Friday, June 22, at 2:45 pm ET in Gdansk, Poland. Germany has only played in Ukraine so far, while Greece played in Poland, but not in Gdansk. Gdansk is in northern Poland not far from the German border, so the crowd should be heavily tilted towards the favorite here.

Euro 2012 Sunday Odds and Betting Previews
by Trevor Whenham - 6/16/2012
It seems like every time there is a so-called “Group of Death” in a soccer tournament things never seem to turn out quite as expected. This is certainly the case this year at Euro 2012. Based on the odds it should have been Germany and Netherlands that advanced on to the elimination round. While Germany has done their part (though there is still one scenario which could see them eliminated), the Dutch have been disastrous.

Euro 2012: France vs. Ukraine Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 6/14/2012
France and England were supposed to lead the way in Group D at Euro 2012. They played to a somewhat underwhelming draw in their opener, though, and that opened the door for the hosts from Ukraine. With their 2-1 win over Sweden in their opener they are now in a good position. One more win could clinch first place in the Group and assure them a berth in the second round of the tournament. Of course, now they need to find a way to get that win — and their first chance comes here.

Euro 2012 Germany vs. Netherlands Predictions and Betting Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 6/12/2012
The Euro 2012 Group B showdown between Netherlands and Germany is a perfect example of how quickly storylines can change in sports. The Germans were the second favorite in the tournament before things started, with the Dutch not too far behind as the third choice to take home the hardware. Germany looked the part in their 1-0 win over Portugal, keyed by a goal by sniper Mario Gomez. Netherlands didn’t have nearly the same kind of day, though.

2012 Euro Betting Picks: Germany vs. Portugal Preview and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 6/8/2012
Group B is the so-called “group of death” in Euro 2012, and this game looms as the most interesting in the first round. Germany is touted as a strong contender to win it all. Portugal could do some damage - but only if they can get out of the first round. This game will be a very good indicator of whether either team is up to the challenge.

2012 Euro Soccer Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 6/7/2012
The world is watching. Even if America isn’t. Soccer is never going to be as popular as football in the United States. And while we here in the states can generally take or leave the most beautiful game, the rest of the world will be fixated on the four-week tournament and it will be THE most watched sporting event on the planet this month. (Take that, NBA Finals!)
