College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 14
by Dave Schwab - 11/30/2011
This is the final week of games in college football before this year's bowl season gets under way in mid-December. It is also one more opportunity to capitalize on the tremendous value that can be found in the college football point spreads if you know where to look.

SEC Championship Game Predictions: LSU vs. Georgia Odds and Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 11/29/2011
Considering how strong the SEC has been this year and how significant it promises to be in the BCS Championship game, it is really surprising how anticlimactic this championship game is. Most people are very confident that the Tigers will roll through this game. If they do that they will play for the National Championship.

Pac-12 Championship Game Predictions: UCLA at Oregon Betting Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 11/29/2011
If ever there was an argument against dividing conferences into divisions this is it. Instead of a Stanford vs. Oregon rematch that would be at least a little interesting we are left with unquestionably the worst conference championship game ever played because USC was not eligible for the postseason and the rest of the Pac 12 South was too bad for words.

College Football Picks: West Virginia at South Florida Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/28/2011
It’s the final Thursday night ESPN game of the regular season this week and while West Virginia-South Florida doesn’t look like much on paper, it does have Orange Bowl implications – although you can bet the Orange Bowl would love to get out of its ties with the lousy Big East because it’s going to get another mediocre team.

College Football Predictions: Penn State at Wisconsin Odds and Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 11/23/2011
For a few short hours on Saturday Penn State can focus on something other than the scandal that is ripping their campus and their football program apart. The stakes for this game are huge -- win and you head to the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game next weekend in Indianapolis.

College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 13
by Dave Schwab - 11/22/2011
As most of the Division IA teams wrap-up their regular season over the next two weeks, it provides a few more opportunities to capitalize on the tremendous value that can be found in the college football point spreads if you know where to look. This is especially true when it comes to games between teams in the mid-majors. Some of these ‘under-the-radar’ matchups literally jump off the page when properly handicapped.

College Football Picks: Texas at Texas A&M Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/21/2011
We get a break from the ACC on this Thursday’s ESPN national television college football game as Texas and Texas A&M face off in their annual Thanksgiving showdown. Well, it used to be annual. The Aggies, of course, are off to the SEC next season, pretty much because they were tired of being in UT’s shadow and envious of the Longhorn Network.

Nebraska at Michigan Predictions and College Football Odds for Betting
by Trevor Whenham - 11/16/2011
It has been strange all year watching Nebraska play in the Big Ten. The strangest moment of all will come this week, though, when the Huskers visit the most iconic building in the conference, and perhaps in the country.

College Football Predictions: Oklahoma State at Iowa State Betting Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 11/16/2011
Thanks to the big missteps by Stanford and Boise State last week the Oklahoma State Cowboys are suddenly in the driver’s seat for a berth in the BCS Championship Game. Simply put, if they win out they are in. The first step in that challenging process — this trip to Iowa State for a Friday night showdown — is definitely not the most difficult.

College Football Picks: North Carolina at Virginia Tech Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/15/2011
No. 9 Virginia Tech was good to us last week in beating Georgia Tech on ESPN’s Thursday night college football telecast, easily covering the one point it was giving. Now the Hokies (9-1, 5-1 ACC) seem a near lock to win the ACC’s Coastal Division yet again.

College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 12
by Dave Schwab - 11/15/2011
With just a few weeks to go in the college football regular season, teams such as LSU and Oklahoma State are trying stay on the path towards a National Championship, while the majority of the better teams in the mid-majors are simply trying secure a spot in a more prestigious bowl game.

Oregon at Stanford Predictions and College Football Betting Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 11/10/2011
The first ever Pac-12 Championship Game will be played on Dec. 2 in the stadium of the highest ranked team. That is technically when the BCS representative for the conference will be chosen. In reality, though, it is very likely that the champion of this conference will essentially be chosen on Saturday night in Palo Alto.

College Football Predictions: South Florida at Syracuse Betting Odds and Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 11/10/2011
Sometimes the Friday night game is a compelling one — not the highest-profile game, but an interesting one between good teams playing well. This is definitely not one of those times. These are the two worst teams in the Big East right now, and that conference isn’t exactly a murderer’s row.

College Football Predictions: LSU at Alabama Odds and Betting Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 11/2/2011
I don’t know if you have heard, but No. 1-ranked LSU and No. 2-ranked Alabama play on Saturday night. Unless you have been living in a cave or under a rock you’ve been hearing about this game for weeks, and the constant hum is rapidly turning into an avalanche of hype as the game nears.

USC vs. Colorado Predictions and College Football Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 11/1/2011
For the first time these two teams meet as conference rivals. It would be a far more compelling milestone if Colorado had shown any ability whatsoever to play football at any point this season — or this decade, for that matter. Still, it’s the start of a matchup that could become a rivalry at some point.

College Football Picks: Florida State at Boston College Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/1/2011
Well, I already miss those Pac-12 matchups on the Thursday night ESPN telecast as I fared well in those for nearly a month but not well at all in last week’s ACC game between Virginia and Miami (Fla.) – the first of four straight Thursday night national TV games involving matchups from that conference.

College Football Predictions: Stanford at USC Odds and Betting Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 10/26/2011
It’s amazing how quickly things can change. Just four years ago when Stanford beat USC, 24-23, with a touchdown in the closing seconds it was a monumental upset. USC was one of the top teams in the country, and no one could remember when Stanford had been even remotely relevant.

BYU at TCU Predictions and College Football Betting Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 10/26/2011
This is technically a neutral site game, but since TCU could almost walk from their campus to Cowboys Stadium they should have the clear crowd edge. BYU will be happy to return to the building, though — in the first college game ever played in the building in 2009 the Cougars shocked No. 3 Oklahoma, 14-13,

College Football Picks: Virginia at Miami Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 10/25/2011
For the first time in a month we get a game outside of the Pac-12 Conference on the Thursday night ESPN national telecast as unranked ACC Coastal Division foes Virginia and Miami (Fla.) square off in South Florida. While the Hurricanes still aren’t close to what they were at the start of this century, it does appear that the program finally has some positive momentum under first-year Coach Al Golden.

College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 9
by Dave Schwab - 10/25/2011
While there was a major shakeup in the Top 5 of this week’s BCS rankings with losses by Oklahoma and Wisconsin, a couple of mid-major teams continue to climb the ladder with Boise State moving up one spot to No.4 and Houston moving up two spots to No. 17.

College Football Predictions: Auburn at LSU Odds and Betting Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 10/19/2011
It’s the battle of the Tigers, and the stakes are very high in this SEC matchup. Last year’s National Champions will be looking to derail the team that is the favorite to win it all this year. This is a very different preview than it would have been if I had written it just a few hours ago. Word has come down that LSU has suspended three players for this game, including Heisman candidate and stud cornerback Tyrann Mathieu.

College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 8
by Dave Schwab - 10/17/2011
The first BCS rankings were released this past Sunday and while LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma dominate all the talk at the top of the list, the mid-major conferences have two representatives with Boise State at No.5 and Houston at No. 19. When it comes to college football handicapping matchups in the mid-major conferences, there is always value to be found, as these games tend to be less influenced by the betting public than the heavily publicized contests in the major conferences.

Hawaii at San Jose State Predictions and College Football Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 10/12/2011
ESPN must be less than thrilled with this game. After a few good games in a row on Friday nights they have one that, on the surface at least, isn’t the most compelling pairing ever. These two teams are a long way from relevant nationally, and at least one won’t be a big factor in their own conference.

College Football Predictions: USC at Cal Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 10/11/2011
It’s not the best Thursday night ESPN matchup of the season this week when two teams who may not even go bowling, USC and California, meet in a Pac-12 game. This one is at AT&T Park in San Francisco, home of the Giants (Cal’s stadium is undergoing renovations).
