NHL Hockey Picks

The 2012-2013 NHL Hockey season has finally arrived and the Doc’s Sports team is here to provide you with winning daily picks. Our NHL expert is an American who has grown up living and breathing the sport; how can you not when you are surrounded by some of the most passionate hockey fans on the planet? That exposure has led to an obsession for the sport, analyzing far beyond the sports pages and the major websites and finding value consistently against the sportsbooks. We are proud to have him and we are looking forward to another sensational season.
Beyond Doc’s own handicapper, Doc’s Sports Services also employs some of the finest hockey minds in the nation and our returns on investment in this sport are unparalleled. Robert Ferringo and his NHL handicapping expert are coming off three straight winning seasons in which their $100 bettors earned an eye-popping $20,500 in profit, including $11,700 in winnings during the 2010-11 season. Vegas Sports Informer, Jason Sharpe and Indian Cowboy are also excellent options and we have confidence in every selection that our top-notch team releases. Be sure to check out each member of the Advisory Board’s individual handicapper pages daily for the latest NHL information and possible big play alerts.
Every selection that we provide is accompanied with a detailed write-up with full reasoning and explanation. Each play is rated on a scale of 1-8, with 8 being the strongest (a Game of the Year situation) and it working down from there.
Each handicapper has his own unique style and approach but on most days you can expect between 1-3 predictions with the ratings varying based on the overall strength of the play. We definitely take the approach of “quality over quantity” and our selections represent the best value on the board on any given night.
Please choose from one of our four guaranteed packages below. If you would rather sign up over the phone call us toll free at (866) 238-6696. Penguins at Senators Picks and Game 4 NHL Odds
by Alan Matthews - 5/22/2013
The No. 7 Detroit Red Wings suddenly have control over the record-setting and Presidents' Trophy winning Chicago Blackhawks in their Western Conference semifinals series. And I'm not saying the No. 7 Ottawa Senators are going to upset the No. 1 Pittsburgh Penguins in their Eastern Conference semis, but would it really shock anyone? The pressure will certainly move to the heavily-favored Pens if Ottawa can hold serve again at home in Game 4 Wednesday night to knot the series at two.

Bruins at Rangers Picks and Game 3 NHL Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 5/21/2013
The Rangers return home with their backs firmly planted against the wall. They lost the opener of this conference semifinal series in overtime and then got blown out in Game 2. A 3-0 hole in a series isn’t technically insurmountable. However, against a team as good and as confident as the Bruins are right now, it would be pretty close to fatal.

2013 NHL Stanley Cup Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 4/27/2013
It seems like the NHL season only just began, but this lockout-shortened year is over. Now the good part starts. While the regular season was less than 60 percent of what it normally is, the race for the best trophy in sports is just as long and brutal as ever. As we get ready for the fun to start, here are some 2013 Stanley Cup predictions to keep you going (all futures odds are from Bovada):

NHL Handicapping: Capitals a Stanley Cup Contender?
by Trevor Whenham - 4/17/2013
In this short 48-game NHL regular season, it was easy to write off the Capitals after their disastrous start. It seemed obvious that a fast start was essential for a team to be a real contender because it would be too hard to dig out of a hole. At 2-8-1, Washington’s start was anything but fast. They weren’t dead just yet, though. To be a contender they needed to not just improve but completely reinvent themselves in order to make up the gap with so little time to do it.

Hockey Predictions: NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Props Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 4/11/2013
Probably no major sportsbook emphasizes hockey more than Bovada, which probably isn't surprising considering it's based out of Canada. The site releases NHL special props each week, and this week there are some playoff and division winning odds that I'd like to look at.

2013 Stanley Cup Contenders
by Trevor Whenham - 4/8/2013
We’re in the tail end of this short NHL season. While we don’t yet know who is going to win it all, we are far enough along to know which teams are the real Stanley Cup contenders and which ones are destined for a long summer. Any team that makes the playoffs can, of course, win the Stanley Cup. At this point, though, it would qualify as a very significant upset in my eyes if one of these nine 2013 Stanley Cup contenders didn’t hoist the hardware (All odds are from Sportsbook.ag):

NHL Handicapping: Trade Deadline Grades
by Trevor Whenham - 4/4/2013
Losing out on Jarome Iginla hurt — especially because they seemed to have a deal but got rejected by the player. They turned things around nicely, though. Jaromir Jagr has more playoff success behind him than Iginla, and the price was better, too. Adding Wade Redden for essentially nothing was a nice character move as well. They fell further behind Pittsburgh, but they still got better.
