Your best source for winning sports picks including MLB baseball picks, NFL picks, and expert college football game predictions is now available.A Note From Doc ![]() Our company opened for business back in 1971. We were only one of a small number of sports handicapping services in existence at that time, and most of those have now fallen by the wayside. When you have been in the sports handicapping industry for more than 30 years, you definitely see some major changes. Making Sense of the Mess in the NL Westby T.O. Whenham - 07/23/2008 If I was part of the management team for either the Dodgers or the Diamondbacks I'd be looking for a way to forget that this season ever happened. The two teams are locked in an epic struggle for the lead in the National League West, with the Diamondbacks currently a game ahead. There's just one problem - Arizona is only at .500. That would be good for no better than fourth in any of the other five divisions, but the pathetic group of National League teams on the West Coast are so bad that .500 might be overachieving by the end of the year. Not only are the top two teams mired in intense mediocrity, but they are secure in their position - Colorado is in third place, but they are seven games back. Read more about NL West Outlook. Will ACC's Injury Reports Help Bettors?by Matt Severance - 07/23/2008 The NFL never really has hidden from that fact that its popularity is due in large part to gambling on the sport. The NCAA? That organization buries its head in the sand at the mere mention of betting on football and tries to pretend it doesn't help make its game much more popular. Read more about ACC Injury Report. Which MLB Dogs Have the Biggest Bite?by Matt Foust - 07/23/2008 Since we have been covering MLB dogs for seven weeks now, it's probably time for a little summary report to help prepare you for the second half of the season. There have been some good and bad weeks, but we've had enough time to at least see some solid trends develop. And who doesn't love some good trends when it comes to teams that return at positive odds? Read more about MLB Underdogs. Olympics Basketball Predictionsby T.O. Whenham - 07/23/2008 I'm a Canadian. That means that I'm able to approach this year's Olympic men's basketball tournament with some objectivity and detachment. After all, Steve Nash is the only real basketball talent we have now that Rick Fox is an actor and Jamaal Magloire decided that he would rather not be good, and Nash didn't play in the qualifying tournaments, so we didn't stand a chance of making it to Beijing. I feel lucky that I can be objective about this tournament because it seems pretty clear that no one else is. That's pretty much the only way that you can explain why Sportsbook.com has the U.S. favored at 1/5 to win the tournament. Read more about Olympics Basketball Predictions. Best MMA Fighters Pound-for-Poundby T.O. Whenham - 07/23/2008 It's time for another look at the rankings of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world of mixed martial arts. I have been doing this for quite a while, but the task has never been as difficult as it is now. Fedor Emelianenko had been at the top through several versions of the rankings, but he was passed last time around by Anderson Silva. Emeliananko had been mostly inactive while Silva had looked ferocious. That was all easy to figure out. And then Saturday happened. On that night both Silva and Emelianenko fought. Silva won impressively, but not nearly as impressively as Emelianenko did. Now the task of differentiating between the two fighters is mind-numbingly difficult. Just hang on a second - I need to go grab a coin to flip. Read more about Best MMA Fighters. Shockey Has New Home, New Props From Bodogby Matt Severance - 07/22/2008 Jeremy Shockey's pending trade from the New York Giants to the New Orleans Saints has spurred Bodog Sportsbook to put out a few interesting prop bets for the outspoken tight end for the upcoming season. Read more about Shockey Props. Predictions for Olympic Medal Race Props at Bodogby T.O. Whenham - 07/22/2008 The Olympic Games in Beijing are still a couple of weeks away. That means we have lots of time left to brush up on our table tennis, synchronized swimming and archery knowledge so that we can get as much action down as possible. Before we work on becoming that much of a degenerate, though, we should take some time to concentrate on the bigger picture. The race to win the most medals at the games is always hotly contested, but even more so this year. The Americans have won the most medals of any country in each of the last three Olympics, but China is playing host, and they are determined to be the host with the most. Bodog has several different props dealing with medal counts for the games. Here's a look at two of the more interesting ones. Read more about Olympic Medals Props. Major College Programs To Be Hampered By Tough Schedulesby T.O. Whenham - 07/22/2008 There's a trap I seem to fall into every college football season. I get excited about a team based on their roster, their returning players, or their coaching staff, and I don't pay enough attention to the schedule a team is facing. A schedule, though, can make the difference between a good season and a lousy one. An easy schedule can make an average team look really good, and that can be costly as the season rolls on into bowl time. A tough schedule can make a team look like it has real problems, when really it just can't catch a break. Read more about Tough Schedules. BetUS Offers Plenty of New NFL Propsby BetUS - 07/22/2008 With NFL training camps getting underway and pre-season games on the horizon some intriguing story lines have already emerged. Fan and expert speculation is at an all-time high regarding veteran injuries in pre-season, hold outs, even which coach is on the hottest hot-seat. Read more about NFL Props. Whenham - 07/19/2008 With NFL training camps just around the corner now is the time we should be getting our head around how we think things are going to turn out by the time the playoffs roll around. That's easier said than done. A good place to start, though, and to get back into the swing of thinking about football again, is to look at the odds for each team to win their division. That way, you only have to look at four teams at a time - certainly manageable. Here's a first look at some of the potential opportunities for NFL division winners futures betting that jump out (all odds are from Sportsbook.com): Read more about NFL Division Winners. 2008 NFL Predictions by Robert Ferringo - 07/18/2008 The best part about making NFL Predictions is that 99 percent of the general public forgets them before they are even done reading the article. If you don't believe me, then how do you explain the fact that Mel Kiper Jr., Sean Salisbury, Stink Schlereth and Joe Theismann still collect paychecks? Read more about NFL Predictions. ArenaBowl Dream Matchup by Max Powers - 07/18/2008 The 2008 ArenaBowl will feature two of the best teams in the Arena Football League, San Jose and Philadelphia. On July 27 these squads will face off in Bayou Country in New Orleans. The SabreCats will be looking for their fourth championship in the last seven years. They will also be going for back-to-back championships after their dominating ArenaBowl victory in 2007. The ArenaBowl had been plagued by some questionable matchups in recent years when the chalk was not able to emerge from the playoffs, but that will not be the case this season. Read more about ArenaBowl. Weekly MLB Underdog Report by Matt Foust - 07/18/2008 The all-star break reduced our sample size this week; however, there were still plenty of games to examine. Based on the way the early part of the week shaped up, it would have been interesting to see what kind of percentages a full slate of games would have returned. Suffice it to say that we are seeing a return to normalcy since the end of Interleague Play, and that means home dogs are usually a pretty solid play. Read more about Weekly Underdog Report. 2009 Super Bowl Predictions by Robert Ferringo - 07/17/2008 It seems odd to be typing up Super Bowl predictions during the height of the July heat season. After all, it's generally winter warfare that determines which teams in the National Football League will hoist the Lombardi Trophy. But alas, the doors to training camp are about to creak open and it is time for some pre-practice Super Bowl predictions. Read more about Super Bowl Predictions. Can Any Pac-10 Clubs Unseat USC? by T.O. Whenham - 07/17/2008 Do you know what I am really sick of? USC constantly winning the Pac-10. The Trojans have been division champs six years in a row. I don't really have a problem with Pete Carroll and his boys, and I am certainly not one of their haters. I just really can't stand it when a team is able to reign virtually unchallenged for so long. Of course, some teams have risen up and given the team a scare from time to time, and they have shared the division lead three times, but there hasn't been a team that has been a consistent, legitimate threat. That needs to end. But it probably won't. Here's a quick look at possible Pac-10 contenders to see if any team can rise up. Read more about Pac-10 Contenders. Season Home Run Props Predictions by T.O. Whenham - 07/16/2008 There is a rare break in the constant stream of action that makes up the baseball season, so it is a natural time to take a step back and evaluate where we are at. One thing that we can do now is consider who is likely to hit the most home runs on the season, and then to see if we can make some money from that belief. Bodog has odds listed for a dizzying number of players who have a shot at being the slugging king this year. Read more about Home Run Props. MLB Home Clubs Winning at Record Rate by Robert Ferringo - 07/15/2008 It's no secret that Major League Baseball teams have experienced unprecedented success at home this year. Home teams in the MLB are winning nearly 58 percent of all games played this year. If that mark stood it would be one highest clips in the last 75 years. The record for home winning percentage was set in 1931, when clubs won .582 percent of their games at home. The lat time since then that the league has topped .570 was back in 1978, when clubs took a W in .573 percent of their contests. Read more about MLB Home Teams. College Futures: Season Win Totals by T.O. Whenham - 07/15/2008 College football is just around the corner, so it is a good time to look at college football season win totals. Looking at the totals this far after they have been released is mostly a frustrating situation - there isn't much value at all in the ones that seem to be the most straightforward or obvious. The only thing that makes sense to me in these situations is to look at teams that have an obvious public opinion one way that I don't necessarily share. That way you can find a nice big price that could be worth a shot, and I'd rather take a shot at a big price than a small one if my money is going to be tied up all season. Here are four that stand out as potentially worth a shot: Read more about College Football Season Win Totals.
