Eastman Picks the Best Bets for NFL Team Win Totals
by Allen Eastman - 08/04/2007

As part of my daily research, I not only look at sides and totals but also some props that could put some money in your pocket at the end of the season. I'm talking the over/under of games won for NFL teams this season. Keep in mind, I try to wager on the weakest numbers and I've found a couple of them that I'd like to share with you.

One bet that I really like is Miami going UNDER the total of 7 ½. I think the Dolphins will be lucky to win five games this season. Another one that jumps out at me is Detroit. The line is set at six victories but I think the Lions could win seven or eight games this season.

I've been to Lions training camp and things have been very competitive There have been daily fights between the offense and defense, which is always a good sign. It's a promising sign for a team that has struggled but looks like it's ready to turn the corner. Jon Kitna is firmly entrenched as the starting QB and with has possibly the best trio of receivers he's had to work with. Maybe I'm going out on limb here, but I think Kitna could be among the NFL's top passers and perhaps lead the league in passing yardage. He's got terrific weapons in Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson and Mike Furrey. Don't expect much from the running game. They'll grind it out just enough to keep the defense honest.

After you finish this feature be sure to view Doc's NFL Wagering page. Our NFL Division Winner Predictions page is also a valuable tool for your NFL research. Forget my Michigan bias. This could be the year that Matt Millen's team FINALLY turns it around. Is a 10-win season out of the question? Kitna says "no" and with the investment this team has made in their starting line-on both sides of the ball-he could be right. I see the Lions breaking even at 8-8 but what a huge step up that would be. Detroit has invested $144 million into their starting defensive line and that really could be the difference between six, eight or even 10 wins I've made one bet on the over/under team totals each year for the last five years and I am 5-0. The odds are now -129 to go over six games for Detroit. This capper just bet $6450.00 to win $5000.00.

This is my gift to you before the season starts. Take it to the bank.
