Barrera Outclasses All-Talk Australian by Jeremy "Fasttalker" Bjornberg - 09/23/2005 Hall of Famer and Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera added another name to his impressive resume, by out boxing and outworking Robbie Peden, exactly as Doc's predicted. Peden fought a clueless fight all night long, holding his hands down and taking no chances. One would think that Peden thought he was the legend in the ring, not Barrera. It wasn't one of Barrera's best performances, but it was much better than the flatline Erik Morales had a week earlier. Barrera outgunned a seemingly bored Peden, and MAB put a little icing on the cake by rocking Peden in the 12th with a sharp left hook. Barrera will now probably face the winner of Pacquiao and Morales if the boxing fans get their way. Barrera showed his lack of professionalism by dominating Peden every minute of every round. The undercard featured Shane Mosley against undefeated Mexican Jose Luis Cruz. Mosley was expected to dominate, and although Mosley did dominate, he seemed to be losing his sharpness and his power. As a big fan of Mosley, I realize he won convincingly, but he needs to gain back his killer instinct if he is serious about becoming champion again. Cruz was very average and painfully slow, so he didn't offer much for Shane as far as a live opponent, that is. The bottom line is Shane seems unsure of his skills, he should have laid into Cruz and got the job done. The other undercard fight turned tragic when Jesus Chavez stopped Levander Johnson in the 11th round. Johnson left the ring fine but passed out shortly after, prompting a trip to the hospital and emergency brain surgery to relieve the swelling. Things weren't looking too positive at first, but it is starting to look like he may recover. Referee Tony Weeks should have stopped the fight much earlier, Chavez controlled every round and Johnson was taking brutal punishment for at least the last two rounds and had no chance of winning. Next weekend features a monster heavyweight matchup between undefeated Samuel Peter and ex-heir to the throne Wladimir Klitschko. The fight is being well promoted and has a chance to be the best heavyweight fight of the year. Don't miss out on Doc's pick here, we were able to uncover an under line that is guaranteed to hit.
