Jimmie Johnson surprised everyone by winning at Michigan for the first time in his career in the June race. In that June race, Johnson came in as the 7-to-1 co-favorite. Since he finally got the Michigan monkey off his back, Johnson opened at the LVH SuperBook as the 5-to-1 favorite to win this week's Pure Michigan 400. Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon and Joey Logano all had great races here.

by Guy Bruhn - 8/10/2014
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to Watkins Glen, New York, this week for the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen. Watkins Glen is the easier of the two road courses. The turns are not as tight as they are at Sonoma, and the course has much more speed. The two things that teams must overcome this week are wheel hop and issues with their brakes. Teams that can control the balance of their cars will run up front.

The Brickyard in Indianapolis has long been known to be the most difficult track to race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Everything about the layout of the track is a challenge. The Brickyard features flat turns and long straightaways, fortunes can change on a dime in this race. A successful combination of lifting off the gas and braking will aid a driver in carrying that momentum through the short chutes on each end of the track to maintain speed much like a road course.

Last year, Brad Keselowski won the pole but only led 9 laps. The middle of the race was dominated by the Busch brothers. Tony Stewart would’ve won the race but he ran out of fuel with only one lap left in the race. Brian Vickers took the lead and ended up in victory lane. There have been 12 different winners in the past 12 races at New Hampshire.
