NBA Picks
The NBA is considered by many to be the best league for sports betting. Yes, the NFL is king in terms of popularity and wagering volume per game but nothing beats NBA basketball over the course of a season. Why? There are many opportunities to make NBA picks every night. NBA lines move more often and are not as sharp as football lines which are under the microscope all week. NBA odds have a much shorter lifespan meaning there are greater opportunities to find value. That gives Doc's basketball handicappers exponentially more opportunities to offer daily free NBA picks and be even more selective when offering expert NBA picks.
Free NBA Picks and Expert Predictions
You can find Free NBA picks throughout the Doc's Sports network including this free NBA predictions page; on our Doc's NBA Experts page; and on the Youtube channels of our expert NBA handicappers. We now also have a very popular NBA video section that is updated daily with several videos during the NBA season. Check the video link on the top navigation. Those ready to take advantage of our Free $60 in member selections can click the button at the top of this page and start receiving free expert predictions.
Get your NBA Picks Today, and Everyday!
Doc's offers expert NBA picks today and every day of the NBA season! Sure, there are the days when the NBA card consists of only tanking teams competing for the right to draft the next Zion Williamson. These teams are bad and their competition for an audience is Seinfeld reruns or maybe getting an extra hour of sleep. At Doc's we don't see this as trash basketball, we see this as a huge opportunity to make money...on trash basketball. Each day during the basketball season is an opportunity to make valuable and profitable predictions
What are NBA Picks Against the Spread?
Most NBA bettors are going to make NBA picks against the spread. This is also known as NBA picks ATS. Sportsbooks give each NBA team a handicap of X amount of points. That means if books think the Lakers are 4 points better than the Celtics they will offer a line of Lakers -4. If a Doc's handicapper has reason to believe the Lakers are much more than 4 points better, his pick against the spread would be to take the Lakers -4. This is how all bets on the spread work unless bookmakers consider both teams to be evenly matched, in which case the line is a pick, AKA pick'em. At Doc's the majority of our NBA selections are against the spread. However, there can be outstanding value on betting NBA totals.
What are NBA Over/Under Picks?
The pace of the game, as well as which team dictates the pace, is a key factor when handicapping basketball games. When pace is an especially strong signal, it may dictate a pick on the over/under. An NBA over/under pick is another way of referring to a prediction on an NBA game point total. NBA total lines are usually well above 200 in today's NBA making them harder for the betting public to find value. For example, the 2004 Detroit Pistons team was very consistently within 5 points of the 90 they averaged. In today's NBA, greater scoring means greater variance. However, professional basketball handicappers can use this to their advantage as the sportsbooks also try to keep track of the higher scoring NBA totals. Doc's sports NBA total picks are some of the best in the business and our total prediction write-ups are insightful. Along with offering our NBA expert picks, we provide free selections that are intended to help bettors with their handicapping legwork.
What are NBA Parlay Picks?
Parlay picks are sucker bets they say! Never bet and NBA parlay they say! Bettors that speak in these absolutes clearly haven't learned how to find value betting basketball. Sure, the payout on parlays at most sportsbooks have gone down to the point where putting two of your picks together for the sake of winning more is not a good investment. But what if your parlay picks could be made on the same game? That is called a correlated NBA parlay. Many sportsbooks offer the ability to make NBA bets against the spread and total in the same game. So if you have a great read on a game and expect one team to quit and fall behind, you may decide to make an NBA parlay prediction. At Doc's our experts will offer a free parlay pick in rare cases. It is not common because we need to find value for our customers on both lines before they move. If our parlay prediction is indeed on the same game, we need to confirm there is value regardless of the fact that you can't line shop the odds on a parlay. Both bets in a parlay must be made at the same sportsbook. If there is a free selection on the total over of -14 and under 200 it was offered knowing that those lines can be found at most Las Vegas sportsbooks and online.
What are NBA Playoff Predictions?
Once the regular season is over the NBA tends to resemble the national football league in many ways. Bettors have much more time to make their NBA playoff picks as teams travel to each other's arenas and rest between series. Making successful NBA playoff predictions is as much about when you bet as it is who you bet on. A series might not start for days. That means an NBA spread may move quite a few points especially as the public bets closer to the action. If we see value in a playoff prediction it will rely heavily on getting the line we are quoting in said NBA pick. In the words of the great Tony George, "We are betting numbers, not teams!" That may not be more relevant than when making picks on the NBA playoff games.

7-Unit Play Take Boston -10.5 over Orlando (7 p.m. EST, Wednesday April 23)
We think this is an extremely fair price for the Celtics tonight. They didn’t even play their best in Game 1 and won by 17. We think they should do even better tonight. They can play lock down defense as well as the Magic or maybe better, and they are a much stronger offensive team. Tatum is out here for Game 2 for the Celtics, but this team has incredible depth and they went 8-2 in games he missed this season. Strangely, those two losses were against the Magic, but Boston had large injury reports in those two games, both in Orlando. They are much healthier here, and at home, and they have plenty of players to make up the slack for Tatum. And this team knows the importance of closing this series out early against a much inferior opponent, so we don’t think they will let up here and we expect a strong team performance all around. The home team has won and covered now in eight straight meetings, and we expect that trend to continue here, at least for one more game.

2-Unit Play. Take 5 Point Teaser Golden State (+8) Over Houston (9:30 p.m) & Cleveland (-7) Over Miami (7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23)
The Warriors Rockets going to be very close game so love GSW getting 8 points. Also think Cavaliers are just too much for Heat - think they win by double digits.

7-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 204.5 Golden State at Houston (9:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23)
The first game of this series was a rock fight, and it will be a shock if that happens again. The Rockets needed a game to get all their young guys acclimated to the playoff atmosphere and they should be able to adjust in Game two. Houston is in trouble if they aren’t going to score over 100 at home because going to GS for games 3 and 4 will be another level for them. This should be a much cleaner game on both sides and look for it to fly over.
Carpe diem. Good luck

4-Unit Play. #542. Take Houston Rockets -3.5 over Golden State Warriors (Wednesday @ 9:30pm est)
Note, 5*MLB Today and we went 9-1 last weekend in all sports. We roll with the Rockets here. What happens here is that the Rockets are in a decent spot and we have to back them here as note that we are also 4-0 out of the gates for the NBA Playoffs for +1900 and we look to try to make that 5-0 today. Per this game, the Rockets lost the opening game at home, it is hard to imagine that a team that scored just 85 points, and that too at home, won't show some pride here and bounce-back and avoid going down 0-2 on the way to Golden State where they could end up getting swept. Is that what Udoka worked so hard for? Houston had beat them on April 6th by 10 points so it's not like they don't know how to win this game and we love for the Rockets who come off basically a season low in points, to show some pride here and we love the Warriors to have a massive let down.

#539 / #540 Miami / Cleveland (Over 212) -110 *7:30 EST
The Cavs have scorers and bench scorers as well, and Maimi can fill it up when motivated and they will be motivated tonight. Both teams shot better than 49% in Game 1 from the floor, and both teams exceeded 42% from 3-point range. I think Herro gets it going for Miami as well, and Cleveland does their thing. Play the Over.
Vernon Croy
7-Unit Play - #542 Houston -3 -110 over Golden State (Wednesday, April 23, 2025, 9:30pm ET)
(LINE AVAILABLE AT CIRCA AND DRAFT KINGS)
Take Houston ATS as my top NBA pick for Wednesday night. This pick falls into one of my top NBA systems and I really like Houston in this bounce back spot at home here tonight. Golden State has shot just 45.1% as a team overall this season and I do expect Houston to step up defensively at home here tonight. Houston has held opponents to just 109.6 points per game against them overall the season which ranks 5 defensively in the NBA. I do expect Houston to be much more aggressive especially on the boards here tonight and I do have them coming away with at least a 10-point victory. Houston is actually the number one rebounding team in the NBA and they will definitely play much better here tonight than they did in the first game. Play Houston ATS
Scott Spreitzer
4-Unit Play: Take 538 Celtics -3.5 (1st Quarter) over Magic (7 p.m., Wed., April 23)
The Celtics clobbered Orlando at home the last two seasons including a 121-94 win in January and of course, 103-86 in Game-1. I expect Boston to come out smoking again in Game-2 but they might shut things down and coast if up by a comfortable margin in the final quarter. Plus, Jayson Tatum is not expected to play. I believe Boston gets up early and I’m laying the points in the first quarter. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

2-Unit Play - [538] Boston Celtics -10.5 -110 over Orlando Magic (04/23 | 7:00PM EST) We cashed in with the Celtics in Game 1, and we're going right back to it here. This team are elite at home, and we expect them to get better as the series progresses. Jayson Tatum is listed as doubtful due to a wrist injury after the fall he took in G1, but we don't think it matters. This team is deep... very deep. We also can see per pbp stats that the Celtics have been fine without him on the floor. In fact; they are only 2 points worse off on the offensive end per 100 possessions, but they improve a little defensively. The Magic are over-matched, and we expect another double-digit win for Boston.
2-Unit Play - [540] Cleveland Cavaliers -12 -110 over Miami Heat (04/23 | 7:30PM EST) The Cavs messed around a bunch in Game 1 and still turned the jets on when it mattered most and won by 21. We cashed in on that one as well, and similar to Boston; we're going right back to it. The Heat looked awful to finish out the regular season and haven't proven much to us in quite some time. They even lost as 8.5 point favorites vs. the Wizards back on April 13. Cavs roll.
Strike Point Sports
7-Unit Play. Take #542 Houston (-3.5) over Golden State (9:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23)
This is a must win for the Rockets. Houston came into this playoffs disrespected as they are the number two seed, but an underdog to the Warriors in this series. To make matters worse they lost to the Warriors in Game 1, becoming an even bigger underdog. If the Rockets lose this game this series will be a sweep, and I just don't see that happening. I don't see a game in this series that will have more value on the Rockets than this one. Golden State was just 21-27-1 ATS this season after a win, which shows they will let up just a bit. Houston will not shoot the ball as poorly as they did in Game 1, and I like their role players to play as good or better than they did in the opening game. Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green combined to shoot 7-34 and 2-15 from three point range in Game 1, and these are two players that combine to average over 35 points per game. Houston also shot a miserable 11-20 from the foul line (74 percent season average). All of these numbers will be better tonight in Game 2 as a desperate Houston Rockets team will throw everything they have at the Warriors to knot this series up at one game a piece.

3 Unit Play Take #537 Orlando +10.5 over Boston (7:00pm est):
I played Orlando in game one of this series and though they didn't cover the spread in that game I felt they should have. The Magic actually won the season series against Boston this year. Boston was favored by double digits in over half of their games during the regular season but they went just 18-26 in those games costing their backers over 10 units. On the other side of things the Magic have been double digit dogs in just six games this year and they covered the point spread in four of those six contests.
Play Orlando plus the points.
Thank you and good luck,
Jason Sharpe

2 Unit Play - Take #537 Orlando (+10.5) Over Boston. (7:00p.m, Wednesday, April 23rd)
Orlando comes into this game down 1-0 in the series after dropping game 1 in a 103-86 final. Orlando has the defense to sustain this number, sitting at 10.5. It’s all about offense in tonight’s matchup. Orlando hit 42% from the field, 37% from the arc, and 73% of their free throws in game one. Orlando has to be better on free throws; they have to be better from the field and have to turn the ball over less tonight. I believe Orlando is up to the task tonight and covers our 10.5-point spread.
Take #537 Orlando (+10.5) Over Boston.
Griffin Murphy
4 Unit Play - Take #540 Cleveland (-12) Over Miami. (7:30p.m, Wednesday, April 23rd)
Cleveland comes into game 2 of this potential 7-game series after blasting Miami in game one in a 121-100 final. Cleveland went a stout 34-7 at home, 41-11 during conference games, and 64-18 during regular season play. Miami has had quite the story to get here, but their story is coming to an end. Miami is by no means deep enough to keep up with the depth and talent of this Cavs team. I expect Cleveland to run right through Miami once again at home in tonight’s matchup.
Take #540 Cleveland (-12) Over Miami.

7 Unit Play: Take Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets (OVER 204.5 Total Points) (-110) (9:30p.m, Wednesday, April 23rd)
We have game two of this series starting tonight in Houston. The Warriors got the best of the Rockets in game one by a score of 95-85. Now, this total was a very low-scoring game; this doesn’t happen often in the NBA. While each team in the regular season has averaged over 112 points per game. The Houston Rockets are going to come out with fire in game two. They’re not trying to go down 0-2 headed back to Golden State. In order for the Rockets to win, they’re going to have to score many points here tonight against this powerhouse of an offense in the Golden State Warriors. You know Steph and Jimmy are looking to take this game two in Houston to give them a comfortable lead headed back home to close out this series. Houston is going to have to do a much better job scoring the basketball here tonight. In game one, Houston shot 39% from the field. Houston also shot 21% from the perimeter against the Warriors. You can shoot that percentage and expect to win against this Golden State Warriors team. I’m expecting these Rockets to come out tonight shooting the ball way better at home. Scoring points for the Rockets is going to force the Warriors to go on a run in tonight's game. I think we'll see both powerful offenses here tonight. I think we’ll see a lot more points being scored on both sides. Take the over 204.5 in the Golden State Warriors vs. the Houston Rockets tonight.
.
Take Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets (OVER 204.5 Total Points) (-110)

2 Unit Play: Take #537 Orlando Magic (+10.5) over Boston Celtics (-110) (7:00p.m, Wednesday, April 23rd)
We have Game 2 here with the Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics tonight. The Celtics won the first game by 17 points. But at halftime the score was a lot closer. Magic had the lead going into half. The Celtics emerged from halftime with a strong lead. The total in this game tonight sits below 200 points. Which for the Celtics is a very low total. Jayson Tatum might not be in tonight; this is why we saw the line go from -12.5 to now -10.5 for the Boston Celtics. But given the Magic have played the Celtics extremely hard the first half of game one. I think they will make some adjustments to keep it competitive in the fourth quarter. Not to say the Magic are going to win this game outright here tonight in Boston. But I know the Magic can keep up with the Celtics here tonight. I like the points in my back pocket with a team that just lost game one of the series. The Magic will have a lot of fight in them tonight. Take the Orlando Magic +10.5 over the Boston Celtics tonight.
Take #537 Orlando Magic (+10.5) over Boston Celtics (-110)

2-Unit Play. Take 5 Point Teaser Golden State (+8) Over Houston (9:30 p.m) & Cleveland (-7) Over Miami (7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23)The Warriors Rockets going to be very close game so love GSW getting 8 points. Also think Cavaliers are just too much for Heat - think they win by double digits.

7-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 204.5 Golden State at Houston (9:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23)The first game of this series was a rock fight, and it will be a shock if that happens again.

#542. Take Houston Rockets -3.5 over Golden State Warriors (Wednesday @ 9:30pm est)Note, 5*MLB Today and we went 9-1 last weekend in all sports.

7-Unit Play - #542 Houston -3 -110 over Golden State (Wednesday, April 23, 2025, 9:30pm ET)(LINE AVAILABLE AT CIRCA AND DRAFT KINGS)

4-Unit Play: Take 538 Celtics -3.5 (1st Quarter) over Magic (7 p.m., Wed., April 23)The Celtics clobbered Orlando at home the last two seasons including a 121-94 win in January and of course, 103-86 in Game-1.

The Magic are over-matched, and we expect another double-digit win for Boston.2-Unit Play - [540] Cleveland Cavaliers -12 -110 over Miami Heat (04/23 | 7:30PM EST) The Cavs messed around a bunch in Game 1 and still turned the jets on when it mattered most and won by 21. We cashed in on that one as well, and similar to Boston; we're going right back to it. The Heat looked awful to finish out the regular season and haven't proven much to us in quite some time. They even lost as 8.5 point favorites vs. the Wizards back on April 13. Cavs roll.

7-Unit Play. Take #542 Houston (-3.5) over Golden State (9:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23)This is a must win for the Rockets.

Wednesday April 23rd 2025-3 Unit Play Take #537 Orlando +10.5 over Boston (7:00pm est):
I played Orlando in game one of this series and though they didn't cover the spread in that game I felt they should have. The Magic actually won the season series against Boston this year. Boston was favored by double digits in over half of their games during the regular season but they went just 18-26 in those games costing their backers over 10 units. On the other side of things the Magic have been double digit dogs in just six games this year and they covered the point spread in four of those six contests.
Play Orlando plus the points.
Thank you and good luck,
Jason Sharpe

2 Unit Play - Take #537 Orlando (+10.5) Over Boston. (7:00p.m, Wednesday, April 23rd)Orlando comes into this game down 1-0 in the series after dropping game 1 in a 103-86 final.

Houston Rockets (OVER 204.5 Total Points) (-110) (9:30p.m, Wednesday, April 23rd)We have game two of this series starting tonight in Houston.
