Betting on mixed martial arts, and UFC betting in particular, is exploding in popularity. Every time UFC has an event I seem to see more betting information on it, and hear more people talking about how to bet on it. You can barely turn on your computer any more without seeing UFC stories or UFC odds. Basically, it's UFC's world now, and the rest of us just get to live in it.

There are several reasons why UFC is as popular as it is these days. To start, the competition is pretty underwhelming. People love to see other people bleed, and boxing just isn't getting it done any more. The heavyweight division is a disaster, the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world is heading to Wrestlemania, and the biggest draw in the sport is a pretty boy who has three fights left but should have quit three fights ago. The UFC is far more interesting, authentic and raw than boxing is. Beyond that, UFC works because it has major main events once a month or more. You can go six or eight months between major fights in boxing. UFC is on TV all the time, its fighters are stars, and everyone wants a piece of it. UFC is scorching hot.
If you haven't yet started riding the wave of UFC betting, then you should. By shopping around a bit you can find the UFC odds that will fit your needs. Here are three of our recommended sports books that do a good job of offering UFC betting options:
5Dimes - This is a great place to go if you are looking for a wide variety of UFC betting options. For example, UFC 82 took place on Saturday. There were 15 different bets you could have made on the main event alone. They involved choosing the winner, how they would win, and when they would win. There are prices and risk levels for every taste - the potential payoffs range all the way from -9999 to +10000. The range of bets can be great for the casual fan who is just looking for a bunch of ways to get some action so that they will have some bragging rights when they are watching the fights with their buddies. They can also be great for the creative, serious bettor, too. Finding ways to combine several of the bets together can spread the risk and give you a shot at a better chance for a decent payoff if you play it right. 5Dimes is one of the few books that consistently offers over/unders on the length of several of the fights on the undercard as well.
BetCRIS - BetCris doesn't offer the wide range of options that 5Dimes does, but that doesn't mean that it isn't worth a visit. It is usually among the first books to post the UFC odds, so it is a good place to visit if you have a strong feeling that is also likely to be a public one, because you can get in before the line moves too much. It's also a good book to visit if you like to play the favorites, as their odds on the favorites are usually a few points better than 5Dimes. The flip side of that, of course, is that 5Dimes is often a better place to visit if you are going to be playing an underdog. This is just one of a million different examples of why a smart bettor has money in more than one book.
Pinnacle - If you live somewhere where you are able to use Pinnacle, you definitely should make a habit of checking out what they are doing (and that goes beyond UFC, too). They aren't the flashiest site, and they don't offer the most choices of UFC bets, or the easiest navigation among them. What they do offer fairly regularly, though, are good prices. It's not always the case, but you can often find the best prices around on both the favorite and the underdog at Pinnacle.
