Doc's Weekly Baseball Notes

Oakland at Sam Francisco (July 2,3,4) -- The "Battle of the Bay" concludes this weekend in San Francisco. The Giants continue to pile up wins, going twelve and two in their last fourteen games. The Athletics are having some pitching problems as Hudson is on the DL, leaving the A's with three left-handed starters. The Giants have feasted of lefties this year going 10-1 against them at home. This three-game series will feature two left-handers for Oakland. Oakland is still not healthy on offense as Chavez has yet to see action in over a month. We see three more wins for the Giants and expect to see a good number in all three of the games. Play the Giants with confidence!!

Cincinnati at St. Louis (July 5,6,7) -- The Cardinals posses the best record in the National League and will add to their win total in this series. This is despite a mere .500 record at home. The Cardinals have one of the best home field advantages and they will soon surge well over the .500 mark. After a surprising start the Reds pitching is finally catching up to them. Their bullpen is overworked and their starters can barely give them five innings an outing. Furthermore, their starters have an E.R.A. of 5.69 on the road and the bullpen is even worse with an E.R.A. of 5.89. The Reds will be pitching to the second best batting average in the National League and by number will be lucky to win one game in this series. We do not even expect that to happen. Cards all the way!!
