The Texas Rangers have the distiction of being owned by a former president, as George W. Bush owned the team from 1989 to 1998. Bush sold the team to Tom Hicks for a substatial profit with the building of the new stadium in Arlington and then he went on to have a successful career in politics. Since that time the Rangers have been known to overspend on free agents and this club has not had much success since the team moved to Arlington from its original home in Washington D.C. Famous former pitcher Nolan Ryan has taken over the operations and appears to have them heading in the right direction, trying to develop talent from within the organization.
The Rangers were founded in 1961 and have won zero World Series. The Rangers currently play in the American League West Division and are located in Arlington, TX. The Texas Rangers play their home games at Rangers Ballpark.
