Daytona 500 Betting
by Max

Nascar is reaching all parts of the country and is becoming one of the most popular sporting events to attend in person or watch on TV. A sport that was exclusive to the Southeast has seen growth all over the country with new tracks being built in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Currently the series runs from February until November with only a few bye weeks during the season. That being said, the Daytona 500 is still the most popular race, it being the one race every team aspires to win.

Nascar has grown in popularity because of numerous reasons. One reason is that the driver's appearance seem common to the everyday man. While other sports feature larger than life human beings, most Nascar drivers are less than six feet tall and weigh less than 200 pounds. There is no rigorous training effort that is involved in being a successful racecar driver. Success on the track comes from knowledge of the course, your vehicle, and your ability to make reactionary decisions.

Another reason for the success of Nascar is the atmosphere that surrounds each race. These have become a weekend festival with nonstop action starting on Friday and ending with the featured race Sunday afternoon. Most tracks hold over two hundred thousand people and the vendors have trouble keeping up with the customer's demand for beer.

Las Vegas and Internet sports books have taken notice of the phenomenon and has started posting odds on which driver will win the weekly race. The amount of action on each race started off slow but has picked up once gamblers became familiar with driver tendencies for each track. The action has become so popular that oddsmakers now post individual driver match-ups on the highest race finisher between the two.

Daytona 500 betting is like betting boxing where you are never confident in your bet until the final bell sounds or your car has crossed the finish line. A boxer can be way ahead on the scorecard but get knockout in the 12th round or a racecar driver can be a lap ahead of his opponent but wreck and in both cases you would lose your bet. But unlike boxing you will not find -500 favorites in Nascar. Usually the big favorites are -150 and match-ups between comparable drivers are -115.

Because of this, there is money to be made in Daytona 500 betting. Barring wrecks that can never be predicted, there is usually a distinct advantage between drivers. Doc's Sports is now in the Nascar handicapping business. Our handicapping expert Max follows the sport religiously and posses extensive knowledge on each racing team, driver, and weekly track. Max will make 1-3 driver selections each race depending on how the drivers are paired with one another.

We plan on attacking Nascar right out of the shoot, with the opening of the season taking place on February 19, with the Daytona 500. The 'Great American Race' is the Super Bowl of Nascar and the one race each team strives to win. However, there are only a select few with cars capable of winning this race. This gives handicappers the edge it needs to beat the books on opening weekend. We finished the season out on a high note going 4-1 over the last five races for a profit of $2650. We fully expect similar results to start this season and encourage you to give Doc's Sports a try! There are lots of profits to be made in Daytona 500 betting.
