Golf Odds and Predictions: Dubai World Championship Props and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/20/2012
As I predicted, Rory McIlroy suffered a major emotional letdown last week in Hong Kong after winning the European Tour’s money list title the week before in Singapore. McIlroy missed the cut at the UBS Hong Kong Open after rounds of 73-72. You could see that coming in the way McIlroy was talking leading into the event. McIlroy missing the Top 10 paid out at a nice +155.

Golf Odds and Predictions: 2012 British Open Championship
by Alan Matthews - 7/17/2012
With all due respect to the PGA Championship, to me the Masters, U.S. Open and British Open all stand out much more significantly than the year’s final major. At the Masters, it signals the start of golf season and seeing all those azaleas in bloom reminds those stuck in cold climates that spring is here. The U.S. Open means it’s summertime and it’s great to watch that tournament because it’s usually so tough that it makes professionals look like you and me out there at times.

2012 British Open Golf Betting Props with Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 7/17/2012
The oldest major championship in golf arrives this weekend at Royal Lytham St. Anne in England for the 141st Open Championship – don’t you dare refer to it as the “British Open” if you are heading across the pond by chance. As I do here at Doc’s with all big tournaments, I will take a look first at some interesting prop options among the hundreds of choices at Bovada for the third major of the year.

PGA Tour Golf Odds and Predictions: 2012 AT&T National
by Alan Matthews - 6/28/2012
Some decent results picking last week’s Travelers Championship, although I certainly didn’t see Marc Leishman’s victory coming. I went with Ryan Moore and he played well after Thursday but that opening 72 doomed him to a T47 finish. I hit on Matt Kuchar at +125 to finish inside the Top 10 and barely missed on Hunter Mahan to do the same (missed by a shot). Also hit on Zach Johnson (-200) and Webb Simpson (-165) missing a Top-10 finish, but missed on Bubba Watson to do so.

Post US Open Majors/Tiger Woods Props and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 6/20/2012
With golf’s Grand Slam season now halfway in the books following Webb Simpson’s win at the US Open on Sunday at Olympic, it’s time to revisit some of the season-long props on major wins for some of golf’s biggest names at Bovada and make some betting predictions.

PGA Tour Golf Odds and Predictions: Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial
by Alan Matthews - 5/23/2012
My predicted winner of last week’s Byron Nelson Championship unfortunately was South African Louis Oosthuizen, who bombed out with rounds of 73-72 to miss the cut. But I did hit on two Top-10 prop bets: Jason Day finished T9 and paid out at +165 with that result. And Matt Kuchar finished outside the Top 10, which seemed inevitable as he was worn out from winning the Players Championship. Kuchar paid at -140 on that prop.

2012 PGA Tour Money List Futures Odds and Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 5/8/2012
This week marks the start of what is often thought of as professional golf’s fifth major; the PGA’s Players Championship from TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Besides claiming the most prestigious title that is not one of four coveted Majors, the player that wins this week will make a major move on the PGA Money List with a generous share of this tournament’s $9.5 million purse, which is the highest on the Tour.

PGA Tour Golf Odds and Predictions: Zurich Classic of New Orleans
by Alan Matthews - 4/25/2012
With all due respect to this week’s PGA Tour stop at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, this tournament is the finale of a three-week lull following the Masters. That all ends next week with a strong field at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte followed by the best non-major on the schedule, the Players Championship.

PGA Tour Golf Odds and Predictions: Velero Texas Open
by Alan Matthews - 4/18/2012
So perhaps a trip to Texas will change our fortunes as the Tour makes a stop at TPC San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open in its 90th anniversary season. I can’t sugarcoat it as this week’s field is one of the worst of the season without a single Top 10 player in the world and only one guy – Johnson Wagner – in the Top 10 in the FedEx Cup points race or PGA Tour money list.

2012 Masters Props Betting: Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 4/4/2012
I have addressed more than a few Masters props already for this week’s first major of the season, but I think I have a few more in me (all odds from Bovada)! Let’s start on whether there will be a playoff at this year’s tournament. Unlike the U.S. Open, which goes to a full 18-hole playoff, or the British Open, which has a four-hole playoff, the Masters is sudden death, with players starting at No. 18. If someone doesn’t win there, players go back to the 10th hole for the next sudden-death hole.

2012 Masters Golf Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 4/3/2012
If you look at the world golf rankings, the top three players on that list – Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood -- and seven of the Top 11 are from outside of the United States. But is American golf rising again? So far on the PGA Tour, 12 of the 15 winners this season are from the good ol’ USA.

PGA Tour: Majors Won in 2012 Odds and Golf Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 4/3/2012
It’s Masters week – easily the best four days of the golf betting season. It’s truly like the Super Bowl of golf when it comes to all of the props available. And with Tiger Woods coming in off a victory at Bay Hill and big names like Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy also having won already in 2012, this is probably the most anticipated Masters in several years.

PGA Tour Golf Odds and Predictions: Northern Trust Open
by Alan Matthews - 2/15/2012
I don’t know about you, but while I enjoy watching golf I don’t consider it must-see TV unless it’s a Grand Slam event or the Ryder Cup. It’s rare a normal PGA Tour event captures my total attention, much less on a weekend.
