Bookmaker's Corner: Champions League Final Prop Betting
by Richard Gardner | Bodog Sportsbook Manager - 5/19/2010
The Champions League final goes this Saturday at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid between European powerhouses Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, and we’re getting ready for a busy day of soccer betting at Bodog’s online sportsbook.
We have a number of props for our players to juice up their enjoyment of the match that will seen by millions and millions around the world.
One of the most popular props we’ve posted asks who will score the game’s first goal. Inter Milan striker Diego Milito is the current 4/1 favorite, followed by teammate Samuel Eto'o at 9/2. For underdog Bayern Munich, Arjen Robben is the odds makers’ leading choice at 11/2. “No goal scorer” at 13/2 is also a legitimate option with two quality sides involved.
If somebody does actually bulge the ole onion bag, it might be a while until we find out who as bettors seem to be expecting a cautious start by both sides. If you disagree and think a goal will be scored in the first 28 minutes, you can get odds of +110. You can get even odds if you think the two sides will be tied at the half. Perhaps a scoreless tie?
One of the most exciting props when it comes to soccer betting is the exact score wager. It’s not feasible to do this for many other sports where the final score could be any number of combinations, but soccer works well. So far, bettors believe that the most likely score will be 1-1 (11/2), followed by 1-0 for Inter Milan (13/2). The most unlikely is 5-0 for Bayern Munich (200/1).
Half-time/full-time props always get good action in big soccer games as well. The most likely scenario for Saturday according to bettors: Inter Milan/Inter Milan at 11/4, followed by Draw/Inter Milan at 9/2. Predictably, the most unlikely scenario is Inter Milan leading at the half and Bayern Munich coming back to win by fulltime. That one’s a 28/1 long shot.
Oh, and while you’re checking out the Champions League props at Bodog, also be sure to peruse all the 2010 World Cup props we’ve posted. It’s only a matter of weeks until the big tournament kicks off in South Africa and we’ve got exact score odds and halftime results for all the opening matches, including the high-profile affair between England and the United States. The most likely score in that one? England by a score of 1-0 (5/1).
