Calvin "The Boxing Banker" Brock is becoming a key player in the Heavyweight Division. BoxRec currently ranks him No. 9 in the world while Ring Magazine has him slotted at No. 7.

Right now is the time for Calvin to really step it up and take a major belt in the Heavyweight division. As far as I'm concerned, the division is up for grabs and Brock is the only guy I find truly legit.
He has been on a rigorous pace moving up in the ranks, defeating named fighters and solid contenders like Jameel McCline and Clifford Etienne. Calvin already has three wins under his belt this year alone.
Brock is scheduled to fight in November taking on David Bostice, another rugged veteran. This fight to me is a statement being made by Brock saying that he is here to claim a title and become world champ. The Boxing Banker keeps his game sharp by taking on veterans and young fighters with winning records. Good management has prepared him well for a title fight.
The beauty about Brock coming up and fighting guys with more experience is that he will most likely be an underdog in future fights. Now is a good time to lay some of those underdog bets on Brock and try to cash in on some good moneylines. Betting on Brock is going to be a solid choice for awhile. Right now Brock is the only one who is close to being a complete package in the Heavyweight Division.
The Boxing Banker has proven he has a solid chin and recovery ability. McCline had Brock flat on his back from a sneaky right hand; Brock then got up to beat the count and finished the round. I thought that he was going to be taken out that round, being on his back like that. Brock then surprised everyone by proceeding to lay a whooping on McCline the rest of the way, even staggering him at the end of the round.
Brock may even have done enough to win the round on a judge's card. Each one of Brocks fights is exciting and entertaining. Brock is a little heavyweight but packs a punch despite usually being the smaller fighter.
Calvin has been a busy fighter and it looks as if he has no intention of slowing down. As of right now he is scheduled to fight David Bostice Nov.19, then right after the turn of the New Year he is scheduled to fight David Tua on Jan.28. Brock's last fight was on June 25 and his fight before that was on April 23. Now that's activity.
It's kind of a shame that Calvin couldn't get a fight with Mike Tyson before he retired. A win over Tyson would've put Brock right in the thick of things as well as giving him worldwide recognition. I'd like to see him fight Wladimir Klitschko, as this would be a tactical fight. Brock and Wlad both like to use their jab and throw combos. This is a match-up that the boxing public wants to see, and I'm positive that the odds on Brock would favor a good return.
There are a few more fights that would make sense for Brock to take if he can get past Tua. A title challenge against Chris Byrd would probably make the most sense. He could also take on John Ruiz, but only if he is prepared for a hug fest. Ruiz likes to hold on tight to fighters like they were long lost loved ones. I think that Brock can box his way around all that and make the fiasco look like an actual fight. Overall I think Calvin Brock is a budding star and a breath of fresh air in the recently stagnant Heavyweight division.
