Will Shaq Stay or Will He Go?
ST. JOHN'S, ANTIGUA (June 22, 2004)-When a star athlete demands a trade in sports today, rumors circulate throughout the league while front offices put together trade proposals hoping to alter the course of their franchise. This appears to be the case now that Shaquille O'Neal has requested a trade from the Los Angeles Lakers. A leading offshore gaming company for over 10 years, WWTS today announced odds on which team Shaq will be playing for at the start of the 2004-05 NBA season.
Although Shaq has told the Lakers that he wants out of Hollywood, WWTS still lists the Lakers as the favorite to secure O'Neal's services for the 2004-05 NBA regular season at 5/2 odds. The Dallas Mavericks are listed at 3/1 to bring "Shaq Diesel" to "Big D" before the start of next season. A return to "The Magic Kingdom" could also be on the horizon for O'Neal as WWTS has listed Orlando at 5/1 odds to make a move for the league's most dominant player. The Memphis Grizzlies (7/2), Indiana Pacers (15/2) and Portland Trailblazers (9/1) may also have the ingredients to pull off a blockbuster trade to retain Shaq's services. Although they reside in the biggest market in the league, WWTS has listed the New York Knicks as a 25/1 long shot to bring the big man to "The Big Apple".
"Although Shaq wants to be traded from Los Angeles, the ability of another franchise to assemble a deal bringing comparable value back to the Lakers eliminates a number of teams from contention," said Simon Noble, CEO of WWTS. "The early rumors have Mark Cuban willing to do almost anything to bring O'Neal to Dallas including trading perennial All-Star Dirk Nowitzki and Antoine Walker to LA. With Orlando reportedly close to moving T-Mac to Houston for Steve Francis in another blockbuster, there is still a chance that Shaq could make a return to the Magic."
The Shaquille O'Neal betting option is now available at WWTS. All odds are subject to change and any bets made after a trade is made public will be voided. For more information, please visit www.WWTS.
WWTS Releases Updated Odds On Outcome Of 2004 Canadian Election
ST. JOHN'S, ANTIGUA (June 22, 2004)-In what many deemed a certain victory for the controlling Liberals just a few months ago, the 2004 Canadian Federal Election has quickly become a tight battle between the Conservative and Liberal parties. First handicapping the political race at the beginning of June, online bookmaker WWTS today announced updated odds on the outcome of the Canadian Federal Election.
A leading offshore gaming company for over 10 years, WWTS has seen a dramatic shift in the odds on which party will emerge victorious in the June 28th election. With polls indicating that the election could go either way, WWTS lists the likelihood of either a Conservative or Liberal Minority controlling the Canadian government at 10/11 odds (i.e., win $10 for every $11 bet). When the company opened betting on the election on June 1st, a Liberal Minority was the favorite at 3/5 odds followed by a Conservative Minority at 2/1.
"When we first opened wagering on the Canadian Federal Election, the Conservative party had been gaining support across the nation, but the feeling was their momentum would wane. However, this has not been the case with the latest polls indicating a tight race, which will be decided by the vote in Ontario," said Simon Noble, CEO of WWTS. "Although the polls have the Liberals with a slight edge at 34% and the Conservatives at 28%, with 15% of voters undecided, the vote could sway in either parties favor by Election Day."
The odds that either party emerges from the election with majority control of the government remain somewhat slim, but also demonstrate an increase in support for the Conservatives across the nation. WWTS lists the odds of the election resulting in either a Liberal or Conservative Majority government at 6/1 odds. The company originally listed the odds on a Liberal Majority at 3/1 when betting opened, while the odds on a Conservative Majority assuming power were 20/1 on June 1st. Bettors can also wager on the election resulting in anything other than a Conservative or Liberal Minority or Majority government at odds of 150/1.
WWTS will accept wagers on the 2004 Canadian Federal Election until Election Day, June 28th. For more information and a complete list of odds, please check the "Special Events" section at WWTS.
