Dancing With The Stars Odds: Must-See TV, Apparently
by Richard Gardner | Bodog Sportsbook Manager - 9/2/2010
I can’t say I watch the show myself, but people really seem to enjoy Dancing with the Stars. I know this because we always see good action on our DWTS odds at Bodog, and with Season 11 set to debut in a matter of weeks (I’m told), I thought I’d share our latest odds, with a few thoughts.
The Season 11 favorite is (drum roll, please) Brandy, at 3/1, closely followed by Jennifer Grey (aka, “Baby” from Dirty Dancing) at 7/2. And that’s some good dancing experience right there. Brandy’s obviously comfortable performing in front of an audience, and, for what it’s worth, Grey showed impressive flexibility when she kicked Dean Rooney in the face during Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
The rest of the odds are as follows:
Audrina Patridge (6/1) – I have never seen The Hills, so I can’t comment on her chances. From the pictures I Googled, however, it does look like she’s in shape.
Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino (7/1) – Instantly regretted Googling a picture of this guy. Nice abs, clown. Now please put your shirt back on.
Rick Fox (15/2) – Fun fact: The retired basketball player will be partnered with two-time DWTS champion Cheryl Burke, so that should help his chances.
Michael Bolton (10/1) – Wonder if his dancing will be as exhilarating as his music.
Margaret Cho (10/1) – Hate to break it to everyone, but this girl is not funny. Doesn’t mean she can’t dance. I’m just saying, her comedy is lacking.
"The Hoff" David Hasselhoff (10/1) – The fan favorite. Everyone loves the Hoff.
Kyle Massey (15/1) – I have no idea who this is. Not a clue.
Kurt Warner (20/1) – The other athlete in the competition. Meanwhile, Cardinals fans wish he was still playing football. Hmmm, I wonder how Matt Leinart would do in DWTS. For some reason, I think really well.
Bristol Palin (20/1) – Good to see she’s keeping busy.
Florence Henderson (25/1) – The long shot of the group. You hate to say it, but age could be a factor.
So that’s the list of competitors. We haven’t had the odds up for long, so it’s tough to tell you about any betting trends to date. I expect a good amount of action on Fox and Warner, just because they’re former athletes and our sports bettors will be familiar with their work. Hasselhoff should get some decent backing as well, because, hey, who wouldn’t want to cheer for the Hoff?
I should also point out that Bodog has odds on a couple of other reality TV shows: “Big Brother 12” and “America’s Got Talent,” the latter of which has someone (or something) called Prince Poppycock competing in it. Hey, awesome.
