PGA Props Picks: Rocket Mortgage Classic Predictions
Well, the king is back. After an incredibly disappointing four days at the US Open, world #1 Scottie Scheffler returned to his winning ways with a hard-fought playoff win last week at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.
Twenty-two-year-old Tom Kim from South Korea certainly held his own, finishing 22 under par after 72 holes. However, Scheffler proved to us once again why he is undoubtedly the best golfer in the world, securing the 12th win of his career and his 6th in 2024.
As for our plays, we hit our matchup bet with ease, nearly cashing a (+400) bet for Scheffler to finish round 1 bogey-free. He had only one…on a par 5! That one hurt, but on to the next.
A validated Kim sits atop the betting board in a thin field at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. It will be interesting to see how he starts, as I imagine he had a bit of an adrenaline dump to begin the week.
Picking winners on the PGA Tour is one of the most difficult predictions to make in the sports betting world. That is unless your choice is Scheffler.
That is why I like to play the props more than anything, as there is value to be had. We just need to know where to look. We have some fun and interesting prop bets for the Rocket Mortgage Classic this week.
There are matchup betting odds that include the moneyline, as well as a stroke spread. We also have a Top 30 finisher that I love, along with a top 20 finish parlay of three of the best golfers on the board.

Matchup
Cam Davis (+122) vs Adam Svensson (-147)
Australia's Cam Davis is in one of the worst ruts of his career. After finishing 12th at The Masters two months ago, he has yet to break the top 48 in his last seven tries. However, he is a former winner here at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
The 29-year-old took the W three years ago in 2021 and even followed that up with finishes of 14th and 17th. Something has to give for this guy, and a familiar course could be what he needs to break out of this slump.
On the other side of the matchup is Canada’s Adam Svensson. Current form isn’t much better for the Surrey native either, as he has two top-20 finishes in 20 tournaments played this season.
One of those was last week, however, when he snagged 16th place at the Travelers Championship.
His course history doesn’t compare to Davis, though, and the Canadian will be playing for the 8th week in a row.
Spread
Davis: +1.5 (-120)
Svensson: -1.5 (-110)
Let’s bypass the spread here and take the plus money on Davis to turn it around in Detroit.
Pick: Davis (+122)
Top 30
Taylor Pendrith: -122
Toronto’s Taylor Pendrith won’t be far from home this week in the Motor City. A former runner-up here at the Rocket Mortgage Classic just two years ago, Pendrith will be looking for his second PGA Tour victory of 2024.
This guy can crack off the tee. And on a long course like the Detroit Golf Club, he is an ideal pick. The guy can certainly win, and at an inexpensive (-122), he is my play of the week for this tournament.
He followed up that 2nd place finish with a strong 14th last year. The bomber off the tee is in great form as well, with an average finishing position, minus one missed cut, of 15th over his past eight tournaments.
Pick: Taylor Pendrith Top 30 (-122)
Top 20 Finish Parlay: +850
Tom Kim/Ashkay Bhatia/Alex Noren
I know a lot of people are staying away from Tom Kim this week. It makes sense. He turned 22 during the tournament last week and barely lost in a playoff to the best in the world.
He has to be reeling a bit. He is also the betting favorite, which generally means there isn't a lot of value next to his name.
We aren’t picking him to win, though. After a 7th place finish in his first start at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, he missed the cut last year. I don’t see that happening again. Hopefully, that confidence we spoke of carries him to a top 20 placing.
He is one of, if not the most talented golfers in the field this week.
Next up on our top 20 finish parlay is another 22-year-old, American Ashkay Bhatia. The LA native is turning up the heat with finishes of 22nd, 16th, and 5th in his previous six starts. He has 10 top-25s in 19 starts this season.
Finally, Stockholm Sweden’s Alex Noren is pushing 42 years on this earth and has yet to win his first PGA Tour event. That’s alright, though. We don’t need him to win. In 15 tournaments this year, he also has 10 top-25 finishes.
This will be the lightest competition he has faced all year. In boxing, they say the last thing to go is your power. Let’s hope the same is true for driving distance as the Swede will need it to keep pace at this week’s lengthy Rocket Mortage Classic.
Pick: Noren/Kim/Bhatia Top 20 Parlay (+850)
