2025 PGA Picks: Baycurrent Classic Odds and Expert Betting Predictions

The PGA Tour rolls on this week with another FedEx Cup Fall event. It's not just any event, though. We're going to Yokohama, Japan, for the first of its name, the Baycurrent Classic. Formerly known as the ZOZO Championship since its founding in 2019, the tournament from "Tire City" is now the Baycurrent Classic.
Yokohama, Japan's second-largest city by population, is stunning at this time of year. I'm sure they will have the course in immaculate condition for the tournament. Since the ZOZO Championship was initially held in Narashino, this will be the first time most PGA golfers will have seen the Yokohama Country Club.
Past winners of this tournament include the country’s representative, Hideki Matsuyama, as well as American Collin Morikawa, whose father is from Japan. They’ll both be in the field this week, and not surprisingly, you can find their names at the top of the betting board.
Dane Rasmus Hojgaard is everybody’s darling this week. The 24-year-old didn’t score a point versus Team USA in the Ryder Cup. However, he had his sights locked in on the following week’s Sanderson Farms Championship, where he finished tied for 3rd, thus retaining his PGA Tour pro card.
I do worry, though, about the eastward travel for the golfers who competed at Sanderson Farms this past week, all the way down south, in Jackson, Mississippi. At the bare minimum, we're talking about 15 hours of flying. Then, you have to deal with the 15-hour time difference.
I don’t think anyone jumped on a jet Sunday night. So, they barely left before Tuesday Tokyo time.

Course Characteristics - Yokohama Country Club
The Yokohama Country Club is made up of two courses, with 16 holes being played on the West Course and just two on the East. The same people who designed the most expansive fairways on Tour at the Plantation Course in Hawaii made this one. We aren't quite as wide as the Plantation Course, but they instill confidence off the tee.
From there, the course undulates and the hills roll gently. The bunkers are brutal and even worse on the East, where golfers will see tighter views from the tee box and more trees lining the course.
Baycurrent Classic Winner Betting Picks
Hideki Matsuyama: +1800
Let's not overcomplicate this any more than necessary. Japan's Matsuyama is one of the best ball strikers on the PGA Tour and has been for the past decade. He's no stranger to hoisting the trophy on a Sunday at the clubhouse.
With 11 PGA Tour victories at the age of just 33, he is by far the most successful Japanese golfer of all time. He’s also been resting up, most likely taking in the cherry blossoms and preparing to defend his home country to become the inaugural winner of the Baycurrent Classic.
Kurt Kitayama: +2200
Kurt Kitayama may have a Japanese last name, but my guy is from the hippie outpost of Chico, California. Another 33-year-old, the UNLV alum is no stranger to success on the PGA Tour, with multiple victories himself.
Kitayama didn’t play just a few days ago in muggy Mississippi, but he still shows up in Yokohama in solid form. Going back to July, Kitayama has finishes of 5th, 14th, 1st, 31st, 9th, and 19th over his past six starts.
Granted, it was on another course, but Kitayama finished 5th in this tournament a year ago.
Si Woo Kim: +2200
Finally, we have our third 30-something, albeit 30 years flat for Seoul, South Korea’s Si Woo Kim. After a shaky Summer, Kim has bounced back with a couple of top 20 finishes in preparation for the Baycurrent Classic.
I spent a year in Korea, and October was by far the best month, as it is in many places in the world. I imagine Kim has been back home getting down all the kalbi and kimchi he can before he has to go back on the road.
