PGA Tour Picks: Bank of Utah Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions

The PGA Tour has now made its way to the halfway mark of the FedEx Fall. I understand some of these tournaments don't have the biggest names in the field, and football is on TV. Oh, and the World Series starts on Friday. I know your schedule is loaded up, but that means you're betting on more games.
That means you need money to make the bets, and that's why we need to predict the winner of the Bank of Utah Championship this weekend.
I recommend tuning in for a few holes if you have the time as well. The Black Desert Resort, part of the greater Zion area outside of the park, is truly one of the hidden gems of the PGA Tour.
You won't catch much Fall foliage like you might see inside Zion National Park, however, as these boys will be out in the desert with a mountain backdrop as their landscape. Scottsdale native Matt McCarty was the inaugural winner here at the formerly named Black Desert Championship last year. The Santa Clara grad shot 23 under par, three strokes better than the entire field, including a couple of late chargers, who shot nine under for the final round.
Also in the field is one of the golfers who lit it up last year at the FedEx Cup Fall events, the Stanford-born and educated Maverick McNealy.
The talk of the 2025 FedEx Cup Fall, Norway's Michael Thorbjornsen, is the betting favorite at 13-1 odds. He's playing quite well at the moment, but we have other golfers on the betting board with significantly more value next ot their names.

Course Characteristics - Black Desert Resort
As I mentioned above, you have to see this course. It's absolutely stunning. They designed it out in a red rock desert over some lava rock. So, parts of the rough will be actual lava rock, and it's as treacherous as it is unpredictable.
Maybe your ball bounces right back onto the course and you get some "lava love," or perhaps it bounces and rolls and bounces and rolls.
Course management will be key here at the Black Desert Resort. That said, the fairways are wide. So, I wouldn't go all in on golfers with elite driving accuracy just because.
Bank of Utah Championship Winner Betting Picks
Matt McCarty: +2800
We mentioned the defending champ in the opener. Some would argue that defending champions seldom win, and I hear that. That's why we have two other picks to win the Bank of Utah Championship that I love tenfold.
There aren't a ton of stars on this leaderboard, and by not a ton, I mean not one. That means things are as wide open as ever. So, why not take a guy we know has done it before?
Christiaan Bezuidenhout: +3300
South Africa’s Christiaan Bezuidenhout may be playing some of the best golf of anyone in the field this week in Southern Utah. After placing 6th at Sanderson Farms and 10th last week at the Baycurrent Classic, Bezuidenhout is ready to use however much space it takes to etch his name high onto PGA Tour leaderboards for years to come.
The 29-year-old is primed for his first-ever win on Tour this week at the Bank of Utah Championship.
Taylor Montgomery: +6000
Lastly, we’ve got Taylor Montgomery. The Las Vegas native and UNLV grad has finishes of 8th, 12th, 30th, and 6th last week over his previous five starts.
One of the more blue-chip guys once upon a time, Montgomery is coming off of shoulder surgery, but as we noted, he seems to be back to 100%.
Over 47 rounds in 2024 before he got injured, Montgomery ranked 1st on the Tour in shots gained putting.
Since the surgery, the putter hasn’t missed a swing as he ranks 2nd on Tour in 2025 in the same category. Going from 163rd in total strokes gained to 48th in 2025 is worth noting, as well.
