2025 PGA Picks: The CJ Cup Byron Nelson Odds and Expert Betting Predictions

After a week off from official PGA play, the Tour returns this week with The CJ Cup Byron Nelson. This tournament has been held at multiple courses over the years, but the previous four have all been held down in the Dallas area, just outside of Plano in McKinney, Texas, at the TPC Craig Ranch course.
Even though he's been going through a slump/recovering from a cut hand, he sustained attempting to make ravioli from scratch with his family on Christmas Day. They were in a rental and didn't have the proper utensils for the job, so leave it to the world's #1 golfer to use an upside-down wine glass…
Well, he made the cut. It just wasn’t the dough.
It has notably set him back, but by no means is he playing badly. Through his first eight tournaments played in 2025, he has an average finishing position of 10th. He was 4th at The Masters a few weeks ago. SS is playing well and will be the overwhelming betting favorite this week at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
Also in the field this week, we have another Texan, Jordan Spieth, who is highly familiar with this course. South Koreans Sungjae Im, Byeong Hun-An, and Si Woo Kim are up there on the betting board with Texan Sam Burns.
After that, however, the decline in talent is quite sharp. Let's take a look at the betting odds for The CJ Cup Byron Nelson and make some picks to win.

TPC Craig Ranch - Course Characteristics
A Par-71, the TPC Craig Ranch course is one of the longest on the PGA Tour, spanning over 7,500 yards over 18 holes. The course is relatively new for the PGA, with not-so-tightly tree-lined fairways and a plethora of water hazards to avoid.
If you can keep a dry ball at TPC Ranch, you’ll do pretty well, as the greens aren’t anything to write home about. This course ranked in the top 7 easiest on the PGA Tour in each of the previous four years.
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Betting Picks
Scottie Scheffler
This guy puts the chef in Scheffler. I think it’s time for his 2025 struggles to come to an end, though. While some may see his less than 3-1 betting odds to win and pass on it, I see betting value.
Six months ago, in a tournament with such a thin field, his odds could dip as low as (+175). Regarding course history, Scheffler didn't play here in 2024. He did snag a top-5 here, though, in 2023.
We have the best golfer in the world, who's hungrier than ever for a win, playing on one of his home courses in one of the weakest fields of the entire year.
Jordan Spieth
Jordan Spieth's Achilles' heel has been his inconsistency. He can be one of the very best or just not show up for months. It's hard to say why, but looking at his current form, he has been quite solid over his past three starts, including a 14th-place finish at The Masters earlier this month.
Spieth was on one of his cold streaks last season when he played the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and he missed the cut. In his two prior appearances at this tournament and course, however, the Texan has a runner-up along with a tie for 9th.
You’re getting 16-1 betting odds for the second-best golfer in the field, on his home turf, in an incredibly light field of PGA golfers.
Byeong Hun-An
If we break down this tournament by country, South Korea could very well have the best chance to win outside of America. You can sometimes find betting odds on that.
The 33-year-old Cal-Berkeley grad from Seoul is still without a win on the PGA Tour. I'm sure he's had better spots in over 200 PGA Tour tournaments played, but he's sitting pretty this week.
With finishes of 5th, 14th, and 4th over his previous three starts here, the South Korean has the best course history of any other golfer in this weak field.
