NBA Picks
The NBA is considered by many to be the best league for sports betting. Yes, the NFL is king in terms of popularity and wagering volume per game but nothing beats NBA basketball over the course of a season. Why? There are many opportunities to make NBA picks every night. NBA lines move more often and are not as sharp as football lines which are under the microscope all week. NBA odds have a much shorter lifespan meaning there are greater opportunities to find value. That gives Doc's basketball handicappers exponentially more opportunities to offer daily free NBA picks and be even more selective when offering expert NBA picks.
Free NBA Picks and Expert Predictions
You can find Free NBA picks throughout the Doc's Sports network including this free NBA predictions page; on our Doc's NBA Experts page; and on the Youtube channels of our expert NBA handicappers. We now also have a very popular NBA video section that is updated daily with several videos during the NBA season. Check the video link on the top navigation. Those ready to take advantage of our Free $60 in member selections can click the button at the top of this page and start receiving free expert predictions.
Get your NBA Picks Today, and Everyday!
Doc's offers expert NBA picks today and every day of the NBA season! Sure, there are the days when the NBA card consists of only tanking teams competing for the right to draft the next Zion Williamson. These teams are bad and their competition for an audience is Seinfeld reruns or maybe getting an extra hour of sleep. At Doc's we don't see this as trash basketball, we see this as a huge opportunity to make money...on trash basketball. Each day during the basketball season is an opportunity to make valuable and profitable predictions
What are NBA Picks Against the Spread?
Most NBA bettors are going to make NBA picks against the spread. This is also known as NBA picks ATS. Sportsbooks give each NBA team a handicap of X amount of points. That means if books think the Lakers are 4 points better than the Celtics they will offer a line of Lakers -4. If a Doc's handicapper has reason to believe the Lakers are much more than 4 points better, his pick against the spread would be to take the Lakers -4. This is how all bets on the spread work unless bookmakers consider both teams to be evenly matched, in which case the line is a pick, AKA pick'em. At Doc's the majority of our NBA selections are against the spread. However, there can be outstanding value on betting NBA totals.
What are NBA Over/Under Picks?
The pace of the game, as well as which team dictates the pace, is a key factor when handicapping basketball games. When pace is an especially strong signal, it may dictate a pick on the over/under. An NBA over/under pick is another way of referring to a prediction on an NBA game point total. NBA total lines are usually well above 200 in today's NBA making them harder for the betting public to find value. For example, the 2004 Detroit Pistons team was very consistently within 5 points of the 90 they averaged. In today's NBA, greater scoring means greater variance. However, professional basketball handicappers can use this to their advantage as the sportsbooks also try to keep track of the higher scoring NBA totals. Doc's sports NBA total picks are some of the best in the business and our total prediction write-ups are insightful. Along with offering our NBA expert picks, we provide free selections that are intended to help bettors with their handicapping legwork.
What are NBA Parlay Picks?
Parlay picks are sucker bets they say! Never bet and NBA parlay they say! Bettors that speak in these absolutes clearly haven't learned how to find value betting basketball. Sure, the payout on parlays at most sportsbooks have gone down to the point where putting two of your picks together for the sake of winning more is not a good investment. But what if your parlay picks could be made on the same game? That is called a correlated NBA parlay. Many sportsbooks offer the ability to make NBA bets against the spread and total in the same game. So if you have a great read on a game and expect one team to quit and fall behind, you may decide to make an NBA parlay prediction. At Doc's our experts will offer a free parlay pick in rare cases. It is not common because we need to find value for our customers on both lines before they move. If our parlay prediction is indeed on the same game, we need to confirm there is value regardless of the fact that you can't line shop the odds on a parlay. Both bets in a parlay must be made at the same sportsbook. If there is a free selection on the total over of -14 and under 200 it was offered knowing that those lines can be found at most Las Vegas sportsbooks and online.
What are NBA Playoff Predictions?
Once the regular season is over the NBA tends to resemble the national football league in many ways. Bettors have much more time to make their NBA playoff picks as teams travel to each other's arenas and rest between series. Making successful NBA playoff predictions is as much about when you bet as it is who you bet on. A series might not start for days. That means an NBA spread may move quite a few points especially as the public bets closer to the action. If we see value in a playoff prediction it will rely heavily on getting the line we are quoting in said NBA pick. In the words of the great Tony George, "We are betting numbers, not teams!" That may not be more relevant than when making picks on the NBA playoff games.

7-Unit Play Take Cleveland +2.5 over Orlando (1 p.m. EST, Saturday April 27)
We liked the Cavs to win this series and we still do. We really love to bet on a good team after an embarrassing loss, and that is exactly the case we have here. The Cavs showed up in Game 3 unprepared and unmotivated. They were down big and thew in the towel early. This is after dominating the first two games of the series without breaking a sweat. We think Game 3 was a big wake up call for this team. Win or lose, we think they will come out with a ton of intensity here. We still think the Magic aren’t long for these playoffs and we think this team has a lot of potential in the future but they need a couple more pieces. The Cavs have a strong history of winning when these squads meet, and we think we will see a much better bounce back performance from them on Saturday.
Best of Luck – Doc’s Sports

7-Unit Play. Take #547 Denver (-3.5) over LA Lakers (8:30 p.m., Saturday, April 27)
To say the Nuggets have the Lakers number is an understatement. They have won eleven in a row against Lebron and AD and that should continue in this one. The Lakers are in survival mode, but this team is not built for that. Jokic is the most dominant player in the league and Lebron used to be so it's a tough pill to swallow for The King but it is very true. The problem for the Lakers is that in most of those 11 losses they have had double-digit leads. So no lead is safe tonight and I think the pressure is going to get to them. Denver moves on in their quest for a repeat.
Carpe diem. Good luck.
Arun Shiva (Indian Cowboy)
4-Unit Play. Take #546 Miami Heat +9.5 over Boston Celtics (Saturday @ 6pm est)
We will roll with Miami here as they did make 23 shots from behind the three-point line, which set a franchise record in Game 2. They shot 53.5% from downtown. Remember this is a Heat team that beat the Celtics outright as a huge underdog last year and this time it appears they have chances even without their star Jimmy Butler. Herro, Bam Adebayo and Caleb Martin are all contributing, and the series shifts not to Miami and we think the Heat will be active dogs, we will ride the train with the Heat at home again as why would they not at least hang tough here if not have a chance to win this game? Miami is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games.

#542 Orlando *Moneyline (-135) over Cleveland
NOTE – *1 EST Tip – Early Start
It should be noted at the Magic are giant killers at home, 29-12 there this season and they play solid defense at home as well which is their calling card. Ad in the fact they just destroyed Cleveland the last game and in this series to date, have held the Cavs to under 86 points or less in 3 games is proof enough that with a short home fav you have to lay any number this low or the moneyline. The Magic are a young team, but at home I think they have the confidence to even this up today. Wagner, Banchero, and Suggs are a formidable trio at home and I honestly think this is a home team type series.

#547 Denver (-3.5) over LA Lakers *8:30 EST
LA looked like a team ready to throw it in the last game, and why would they have any gusto here? The other thing that is glaring, is that LA is very poorly coached, while Denver is expertly coached. Denver swept them last year, beat them up in t he regular season and are going for a sweep here, and if you have not paid attention, the Nuggets do not give away games or take their foot off the opponents neck when they have a lead. They also have won their past 5 road playoffs games dating back. James and Davis are not enough to beat a complete team like Denver and LA has no answer for Jokic. 11-0 SU their last 11 against LA, it is apparent LA just cannot beat them.

4-Unit Play - #542 Orlando -2.5-110 over Cleveland (Saturday, April 27, 2024, 1:00pm ET)
Take Orlando ATS as my top NBA pick for Saturday afternoon. This pick falls into one my top NBA systems and I really like Orlando in this spot at home here today to tie the series. Cleveland has averaged just 103 points per game over their last 5 games and opponents have averaged 110 points per game against them on the road this season. Orlando has played great defensively holding opponents to just 97.8 points per game against them over their last 5 games with opponents shooting just 42.6% against them and Orlando has also played solid defensively at home this season holding opponents to just 104.1 points per game against them. Play Orlando ATS as we move to 19-6 with my last 25 NBA plays.
Scott Spreitzer
4-Unit Play: Take 541 Cavaliers +2.5 over Magic (1 p.m., Saturday, April 27)
The Cavs were blown off the floor in Orlando in Game-3 after dominating the Magic in winning the first two games. Cleveland held Orlando to a combined 54 of 166 (34.3%) shooting, including 17 of 72 (23.6%) from beyond the arc in the first two games. The Magic were better shooting the 3-pointer last time out but certainly not spectacular in Game-3. What they did is make a ton of mid-range jumpers, which normally is a poor percentage shot. As reported, they took two-dozen poor percentage shots and made 67% of their attempts. I’m betting it’s not sustainable against the well-coached Cavaliers. Cleveland is 14-3 ATS following a double digit road loss. I’m backing the Cavaliers on Saturday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
3-Unit Play: Take 547 Nuggets -3.5 over Lakers (8:30 p.m., Saturday, April 27)
The Lakers had their chances in this series but they couldn’t overcome Denver’s depth and they couldn’t overcome D’Angelo Russell’s disappearing act in Game-3. Add-in Rui Hachimura averaging a 9 PAR in this series and there’s too much of an advantage for the Nuggets. Denver has won 11 straight against the Lakers and Los Angeles has covered just four of 17 in revenge of at least four losses to an opponent over the last two seasons. I’m backing the Nuggets on Saturday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
Doug Upstone
7 Unit Play. Take #547 Denver -4 over L.A. Lakers (8:30 p.m. ET, Saturday, April 27)
We all understand when the oddsmakers put out a line it is well thought out from their perspective. Do they sometimes make mistakes or be forced to correct weak numbers by sharps or pure betting volume, sure. However, for the most part, they are very good at their jobs. It is of note the closing line of Game 3 in this series was Denver +1, and with no venue change and both teams having two days off, Denver is up to -3.5 for Game 4. As you are aware, Denver has won 11 in a row over the Lakers and is on a 7-1 ATS run. L.A. has led at halftime in each game of this series, yet when it starts to matter, the Nuggets turn it on and the Lakers cannot do anything about it. With Minnesota likely to sweep Phoenix, the last thing Denver players want to do is play another game and will be out to sweep Los Angeles themselves. When L.A. is playing with four-time revenge in a two-year period, the last 17 times that’s occurred, they have lost by 7.4 PPG.

[NBA] [4-Unit] (545) Boston Celtics -9 -110 over Miami Heat (6:00PM EST) Lots working here for the Celtics. First of all; teams that lost Game 2 at home after winning Game 1 (both as favorites) are 58.5% ATS on the road in Game 3. This improvers to 75% ATS with an average point differential of 17.5 points when listed as at least 5.5 point favorites. Which brings us to another trend; visiting playoff favorites of 8.5 points or higher are 77.4% ATS all-time with an average win margin of +14.9 points. The Celtics are the far superior team and we don't anticipate the Heat shooting 53% from deep again. Boston rank 1st in the league in adjusted offensive rating (Miami rank 21st). They also rank 3rd in adjusted defensive rating (Miami rank 5th).

3 Unit Play Take #542 Orlando -2.5 over Cleveland (1:00pm est):
Orlando has been a much better team at home this season and we seen that again in game three of this series. I expect the Magic to come out in this one and take care of business as not a lot separates these two teams overall.
Play Orlando in this one.
Thank you and good luck,

3 Unit Play - Take Oklahoma City (-120) Over New Orleans. (3:30p.m, Saturday, April 27th)
OKC enters this game with a 2-0 series lead. OKC finished the season going 57-25, 7-3 in their last 10 games, and it now makes it seven straight wins. New Orleans finished their season 49-33, 5-5 in their last 10 games; they have now lost three consecutive matchups. Zion is still out due to a hamstring issue, which is detrimental to this Pelicans team. I expect Shai Alexander to have a breakout day today. Alexander is consistently averaging 30 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. OKC is ranked 3rd across the NBA when it comes to points per game, averaging 120. This offense is too potent, and I don't think New Orleans is going to be able to hang.
Take Oklahoma City (-120) Over New Orleans.

3 Unit Play - Take Denver (-3.5) Over Los Angeles. (8:30p.m, Saturday, April 27th)
Denver enters this game with a 3-0 series lead. Denver is simply outplaying Los Angeles. In game three, Denver outrebounded Los Angeles 51-38, destroyed them on second chances in the paint, and led them in assists. Los Angeles shot 18% from the perimeter, and the truth is, this team is not deep enough. Denver is much more talented, has way more depth, and is simply better. Lebron James and Anthony Davis are not getting the job done and are not good enough to beat this team head-on. I anticipate Denver comes in tonight and finishes the series with a 4-0 sweep.
Take Denver (-3.5) Over Los Angeles.

4-Unit Play: Take 541 Cavaliers +2.5 over Magic (1 p.m., Saturday, April 27)The Cavs were blown off the floor in Orlando in Game-3 after dominating the Magic in winning the first two games.

7 Unit Play. Take #547 Denver -4 over L.A. Lakers (8:30 p.m. ET, Saturday, April 27)We all understand when the oddsmakers put out a line it is well thought out from their perspective.

They also rank 3rd in adjusted defensive rating (Miami rank 5th).Strike Point Sports

Saturday April 27th 2024-3 Unit Play Take #542 Orlando -2.5 over Cleveland (1:00pm est):
Orlando has been a much better team at home this season and we seen that again in game three of this series. I expect the Magic to come out in this one and take care of business as not a lot separates these two teams overall.
Play Orlando in this one.
Thank you and good luck,

3 Unit Play - Take Oklahoma City (-120) Over New Orleans. (3:30p.m, Saturday, April 27th)OKC enters this game with a 2-0 series lead.
