On Tuesday afternoon, the Baylor Bears and the South Carolina Gamecocks will face each other after blowing out their opponents in their opening games. Last season, Baylor was able to beat South Carolina 66-64 at home.
On Friday, Baylor was able to win their first game by blowing out McNeese State 80-39 on their home court. They made 51.7 percent of their shots in that win and had a huge 55-28 rebounding advantage.
Baylor's 55 rebounds in that game against McNeese State was the fourth-highest rebounding total in the nation over the weekend. Bears forward Rico Gathers had a good opening game by contributing nine points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in the win. Their top scorer in that game was forward Deng Deng, who came off of the bench to score 16 points.
South Carolina scored 48 first-half points against North Florida last Friday and rolled to an 81-56 home win. They made 50.9 percent of their shots in that game and they ended up forcing 15 North Florida turnovers.
In that opening win, the Gamecocks were led by forward Mindaugas Kacinas, who came off of the bench to notch nine points and 11 rebounds. Guard Tyrone Johnson also had a solid game by scoring 12 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists. Forward Laimonas Chatkevicius had 11 points and four rebounds in just 17 minutes off of the bench in that win.
