The Vancouver Canucks were able to pull off the 3-1 win the last time they squared off against the Colorado Avalanche. Mike Santorelli was the star of the game for the Canucks, scoring two goals and adding an assist in the win. Santorelli's two-goal performance gave him eight on the season. He only had two goals last season while playing for both Florida and Winnipeg.
Santorelli got his first goal of the game five minutes into the first period on Vancouver's first shot of the game. The next goal didn't come until the third period, when Ryan Kesler scored his 15th of the season at the 1:32 mark. About five minutes later, Santorelli was able to add an insurance goal to make it 3-0 for the home team. Jamie McGinn scored the lone goal for the visitors with just seven seconds left in the game.
Roberto Luongo was solid in net for the Canucks in this one, making 28 saves and only letting one get past him. Jean-Sebastien Giguere didn't have as much luck in this one, stopping just 18 of the 21 shots he faced. It was Giguere's first loss of the season after starting 7-0.
Vancouver, who had an eight-game power-play goal streak going, didn't register a goal in this one on three PP attempts. The Avalanche were limited to just one power-play in the game.
