NFL Week 11 Betting Props at Bodog
by Richard Gardner | Bodog Sportsbook Manager - 11/19/2010
A couple of compelling head-to-head quarterback matchups feature prominently in our Week 11 NFL props at Bodog. In Minnesota, it's Brett Favre versus Aaron Rodgers of the visiting Green Bay Packers, and in New England, it's Tom Brady versus Indy's Peyton Manning.
Bodog odds makers have put together lines on which QB will throw more touchdown passes, which one will throw more interceptions, as well as which one will have the highest completion percentage.
In the Minnesota-Green Bay game, it's expected that Rodgers will have the better outing. He's the favorite (-165) to throw more TDs, the underdog (+165) to throw more picks, and the favorite (-130) to register a higher completion percentage.
It's not surprising, really. Favre is coming off a dreadful performance in Chicago, where he completed just 58.1 percent of his 31 attempts, with one TD and three interceptions. Meanwhile, Rodgers' last outing (two weeks ago) came against Dallas, which he tore apart for three TDs, no picks and a 79.4 completion percentage on the way to a 45-7 Packer victory. However, for those of you who like to play home underdogs, Favre might be your man.
The Brady-Manning match-up is a little closer, with the exception of the TD passes prop, which fairly heavily favors (-150) the Indianapolis quarterback. I find it somewhat interesting that we've booked a good amount of early action on the favorite playing on the road, especially considering Brady has thrown more TDs (17) this year than Manning (16). While Manning started the season very strong, he's slowed down considerably of late, throwing just six TDs in his last five games, a meager amount for him.
No doubt the myriad Indianapolis injuries on offense, like the season-ending one to TE Dwight Clark, played a part in this. So perhaps the probable return of receiver Austin Collie will lead to some better numbers for Manning on Sunday.
On the opposite end of the quarterback spectrum compared to the future Hall-of-Famers that are mentioned above, there's rookie Tony Pike of the Carolina Panthers. Pike is the likely starter this week at home to the Baltimore Ravens, who will present the 24-year-old Cincinnati product with a daunting challenge.
So, what is Tony Pike all about? According to Carolina coach John Fox: "He's got good accuracy. He's a guy that did it at a high level at the University of Cincinnati, and he's had a little playing time here a couple weeks ago. We're still learning about him. Obviously, we like him. We drafted him. So that's kind of what I know about him."
We've set an over/under on Pike's total passing yards (167.5), his completion percentage (52 percent) and we're asking the question, what will he do first - throw a touchdown (+160) or an interception (-200)?
Good luck, kid.
