Fingers will be crossed that we will have good weather for Saturday’s running of the 148th Kentucky Derby, “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports”. Last year at the Kentucky Derby we saw Medina Spirit win the race as a 12-1 betting choice, but then the controversy came out regarding that win. Medina Spirit trainer Bob Baffert was banned from the Triple Crown races for the next two years following the verification of a positive drug test from the Derby.
2022 Kentucky Derby Betting Tips and Advice
by Robert Ferringo - 5/6/2022
Looks like we’re going muddin’. Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast in Lexington, Kentucky, on Friday and Saturday. That means that the track at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, should be a sloppy, muddy mess by the time the 20-horse field finds the post Saturday evening.

The Run for the Roses, the first leg of the Triple Crown, the “most exciting two minutes in sports” grows near. This year marks the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby, held at Louisville’s Churchill Downs Racetrack. Last year’s event had limited capacity due to COVID-19, but this year the crowds should be much bigger now that the pandemic is nearing its tail end. So far, we’ve covered the “Long Shots” for this year’s Derby, and the Top 5 contenders.
2022 Kentucky Oaks Predictions and Race Analysis
by Raphael Esparza - 5/5/2022
Friday at a soggy Churchill Downs is the running of the 148th Longines Kentucky Oaks, the appetizer of this big horse racing weekend. Last year at the Kentucky Oaks, early favorite Malathaat won easily, overcoming a sloppy track and could have won running backwards. Friday’s Kentucky Oaks edition features 15 entrants, and this 1 1/8 mile race is going to be very entertaining. If you didn’t notice, there are 11 horses that are 15-1 or higher, and the track is expecting rain all Friday, so maybe we could see a long shot hit the board.
2022 Kentucky Derby Long Shots: Advice and Tips for Finding Value
by Cameron McQuade - 5/5/2022
On April 26, I wrote about 3 long shot horses that I believe have a unique chance to pull off a win at the 148th Kentucky Derby. Zozos, Cyberknife and Summer Is Tomorrow. That was prior to the post positions being drawn on May 1, and now with the odds also updated, so we are going to take another look at 3 new long shot horses that can give you great bang for your buck come Saturday.
2022 Kentucky Derby Contenders
by Doug Upstone - 5/4/2022
This Saturday is the Kentucky Derby, the 148th Run for the Roses, and it’s time to make those mint juleps and fill out those betting slips and hope you don’t have to drown your sorrows. By all accounts, Zandon (3-1 odds) and Epicenter (7-2) are deserving favorites, but they are not the only two horses that are attracting attention. Because the Kentucky Derby has such a large field of 20 horses, the best horse does not always win.
2022 Kentucky Derby Pace Scenario Handicapping and Analysis
by Cameron McQuade - 5/4/2022
The Kentucky Derby is a 1 1/4-mile race, so it's important to understand each horse’s running style and how that can affect where they finish in the race. Most bettors enjoy looking at stamina and speed to win the race -- the obvious. With that in mind, a pace-setting horse may be nice, but they can fade down the stretch of this longer race. So, it may be better to target horses that can hang back early and have good enough closing burst to win the race.

There are few American sporting events with the history and popularity of the Kentucky Derby. From the traditions of having a mint julep, to singing “My Old Kentucky Home”, the Kentucky Derby is more than a race, it is a true celebration of Americana.

Best Trifecta Bets for the 2021 Kentucky Derby
by Chris Vasile - 4/29/2021
In life, people dream of winning the lottery. It’s just human nature to want to win a lottery and the millions of dollars that come with it and be able to set yourself and your kids up for life (if you manage the wealth wisely). In sports betting, every bettor dreams about hitting a massive 12-leg parlay that can turn their 10 bucks into tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. The same thing can be said about horseplayers. Every horseplayer has two dreams.

by Chris Vasile - 4/29/2021
We are now just a few days away from the 147th running of the Kentucky Derby. And for those of you who may not know the history of the Derby, it’s the longest-running horse race in North America, having run every single year since 1875. It took a global pandemic for the Derby to make changes to its run date as it got pushed to Sept. 5, 2020, from its most famous first weekend in May time slot.
2021 Kentucky Derby Betting and Wagering Strategies
by Chris Vasile - 4/27/2021
The Kentucky Derby is similar to the Super Bowl in the sense that it gets hyped up almost to the point of nausea and it often very rarely delivers the drama and entertainment that we want to see. Nonetheless, the Derby is one of the most wagered on horseraces in the United State. Therefore, if you’re going to throw some money on it, I suggest having a bit of a strategy in place to help maximize your return.
2021 Kentucky Derby Betting Trends
by Chris Vasile - 4/26/2021
Horse racing is a weird sport to bet on. The avid horseplayer will spend his life crafting his skills and developing strategies only to come up short on the majority of the races he wagers on. He’ll look at things like pedigree, speed, pace, prep, track surface, distance, and everything in between. He’ll know the difference between a colt, filly, mare, and gelding. He’ll know the jockeys, the trainers, the horses’ run styles and all the angles associated with horse racing like first time starters, or horses dropping down in class off a layoff. He’ll know it all.

Wherever Todd Pletcher goes, and whatever Todd Pletcher does, the whole horse racing industry and betting public is watching. Pletcher will send out four runners in this year’s edition of the Kentucky Derby, and perhaps none of them have a better chance to win the race than Known Agenda, who is looking to pick up his third win in a row in one of the most famous races in the horse racing industry. Can he do it? Only time will tell.
Hot Rod Charlie Odds to Win the 2021 Kentucky Derby with Picks and Predictions
by Chris Vasile - 4/21/2021
We are now less than 10 days away from the running of the Kentucky Derby, and the field is starting to take shape. Barring any late scratches, we have a pretty good idea of who will be running and a similar idea of how the race will play out. Based on that, we think Hot Rod Charlie, who is a top-four betting favorite, will be in a prime position to make some noise as they turn from home and come barrelling down the stretch.
