2026 PGA Picks: Wyndham Championship and Expert Betting Predictions
Another tournament came down to the wire last week, but it was Michael Thorbjornsen who came out on top at the Rocket Classic to pick up his first-ever PGA Tour win with a final score of -18.
This week, however, is a crucial point on the PGA Tour, as it will mark the final regular-season event of the season, the Wyndham Championship. This means that players will be vying for a Top 70 spot in the FedEx Cup Standings, as only the Top 70 will be eligible to play at the first FedEx Cup playoff event next week.
To this point, the field this week is missing many of the top players in the world, but is still likely to be competitive with so much on the line. The Wyndham Championship is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 6th and will conclude on Sunday, August 9th.
As always, my article will preview this event by including a brief course overview and the current outright betting odds. Additionally, I will give you my best bet to win the Wyndham Championship and my two favorite ‘Top X Finish’ props.

The Course
The Wyndham Championship will take place at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. This course is a Par 70 and measures 7131 yards. It consists of 12 Par 4’s, four Par 3’s, and two Par 5’s.

Best Bets
Hideki Matsuyama to Win the Wyndham Championship (+2350)
My top pick to win the Wyndham Championship will target Hideki Matsuyama. He has had a good 2026 season to date, having made the cut in all 19 events he has played. This includes 10 Top 20 finishes, and four consecutive Top 20 finishes, the most recent being at the Rocket Classic this past week, where Matsuyama finished T5.
On the season, Matsuyama ranks 25th in Strokes Gained: Total, 36th in Scoring Average, and 30th in Birdie Average. Given this, and his recent consistent play, backing Hideki Matsuyama to win the Wyndham Championship ahead of the first FedEx Cup playoff event will be my best bet.
Ryan Gerard to Finish Top 20 (Including Ties) (+130)
My favorite prop at the Wyndham Championship will be for Ryan Gerard to finish inside the Top 20. Gerard has had an excellent 2026 season on the PGA Tour thus far, as he ranks 16th in the FedEx Cup standings. Gerard has made 19 of 22 cuts this season, and has finished inside the Top 20 sevent times, which includes three second-place finishes.
Further, he has finished inside the Top 20 in his last two events, the most recent being a T8 at the Rocket Classic last week. On the season, Gerard ranks 20th in Strokes Gained: Total, 24th in Strokes Gained: Approach to Green, 21st in Strokes Gained: Putting, 8th in Putting Average, 20th in Scoring Average, 14th in Par 4 Scoring, and 13th in Birdie Average.
Given his recent run of good form and solid statistics during the season, backing Ryan Gerard to Finish Inside the Top 20 will be my play.
Alex Fitzpatrick to Finish Top 30 (Including Ties) (+162)
My second favorite prop at the Wyndham Championship will be for Alex Fitzpatrick to finish inside the Top 20. Fitzpatrick has had a solid 2026 season up to this point, as he ranks 19th in the FedEx Cup Standings. To this point, Fitzpatrick has only played in 10 events, having made the cut in nine of them. More importantly, Fitzpatrick has finished inside the Top 20 in six events, which includes a win with his brother, Matt Fitzpatrick, back at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
In fact, the only events where Fitzpatrick did not finish inside the Top 20 were three different majors (PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship), while his only missed cut was at the Genesis Scottish Open.
There is the fact that Fitzpatrick has not played in a PGA Tour event since The Open Championship in July; however, given his consistency in non-major tournaments, backing Alex Fitzpatrick to Finish Inside the Top 20 will be my play.
