2025-26 Utah Mammonth Predictions and Odds to Win Stanley Cup Finals

Their first season in Utah was better than expected as they finished the season above their projected point total with 89 points. Though the Utah Mammoth missed the playoffs by eight points, there was a lot to like for Utah. They finished the season with a winning record on the road, though their goal differential was -10.
They struggled to score at times. Their 2.93 GF/G ranked 21st in the league. Despite struggling to score, their special teams were not bad at all. They ranked 10th in the league with a 24.2% PP% while their 79.3% PK% ranked 15th in the league. Clayton Keller had himself a year as he finished with a team best 90 points while leading with 30 goals and 60 assists. Logan Cooley finished second on the team with 65 points while his 25 goals and 40 assists ranked third. Dylan Guenther finished the season second on Utah with 27 goals while Nick Schmaltz finished second on the team with 43 assists. Schmaltz and Barrett Hayton also joined Keller, Guenther, and Cooley with 20 or more goals on the season.
The goaltending was not the best for Utah. They finished the season ranked 17th in goals allowed as they allowed 3.01 GA/G while their .898 SV% ranked 18th. Karel Vejmelka had 58 appearances last season where he allowed 2.58 GA/G, and he finished the season with a .904 SV%. Connor Ingram appeared in 22 games where he allowed 3.27 GA/G and finished with a team worst .882 SV%. Jaxson Stauber and Matt Villalta combined to appear in seven games for Utah where they allowed more than 3.00 GA/G.

Seasons come and go, so now it’s time to take a look at what we can expect from the Utah Hockey Club in 2025-26:
Utah Mammoth Key Additions/Losses
The Mammoth traded Michael Kesselring (29 points) and Josh Doan (19 points) to Buffalo while also sending Matias Maccelli (18 points) to Toronto. Nick Bjugstad (19 points) signed with the Blues marking the only other significant subtraction from last year’s roster.
As for the additions, in the deal with Buffalo the Mammoth acquired JJ Peterka who recorded 68 points on 27 goals and 41 assists last season with the Sabres. The Mammoth signed Nate Schmidt who had 19 points for the Florida Panthers last season while also bringing in backup goaltender Vitek Vanecek.
Utah Mammoth X-Factors
JJ Peterka- Peterka will join Cooley on the Mammoth’s second line this season which will boost the offense. Peterka is still just 23 years old and will look to be a key foundational piece for this Utah franchise in the years to come. He has steadily improved his numbers throughout his career as he set a career high in points in each of his past three seasons. Peterka scored 18 points on the power play last season in Buffalo and if he repeated those same numbers for Utah then the Mammoth may have one of the best power play units in the NHL. Whether it’s this year or next, Peterka was an incredible acquisition for Utah.
Utah Mammoth Goalie Outlook
The goaltending is not great. Vajmelka set a career high in starts last season and while his 2.58 GA/G were a career best, he had allowed 3.49 GA/G in his previous 140 appearances. He will need to keep his numbers close to last season’s production if Utah wants to have a shot at being in the playoff conversation. Behind the fourth year netminder is Vanecek who can be reliable in the backup capacity and is much better than their backups last season. Regardless of whether Vajmelka or Vanecek is in the crease, the Mammoth have a sub-par goalie situation.
Grade: C
Utah Mammoth Key Schedule Stretch
The Trade Deadline- The Mammoth will inevitably need to continue to add to this roster if they wish to compete with the big teams of the league. There is no need to rush things, but the Peterka deal propelled this team in the right direction and fans will want this franchise to move from being a fringe playoff team to a solid wild card presence and a team who can go on a run when it matters. Their goaltending is awful and will need to be addressed and that can be answered at the deadline if Utah is in the playoff mix. If they fall out of the race early, look for Utah to shed some salary at the deadline in order to make a big time offer to one of the big-name free agents in next year’s class.
Utah Mammoth Notable Odds
Stanley Cup Champions: +5000
Conference Winner: +2700
Division Winner: +1400
To Make the Playoffs: -105
Hart Trophy- Clayton Keller: +50000
Norris Trophy- Mikhail Sergachev: +12500
Hart Trophy- JJ Peterka: +50000
Vezina Trophy- Karel Vajmelka: +10000
Utah Mammoth Prediction
I do think Peterka is enough to warrant a three-point improvement from last year’s point total, but I do not see Vajmelka being able to repeat his numbers here. Utah is not far off from a playoff return, but that won’t happen this season due to the inconsistencies in the crease. The front office should look to buy some goaltending help at the deadline if Utah is heavily competitive and relevant in the wild card race, but if not, there is no reason to rush the narrative as they are really close to returning to their winning ways. Take the under on the point total and expect goaltending to be the main reason why the Mammoth regress this season.
