The No. 1 seed Indiana Pacers were able to beat the No. 2 seed Miami Heat in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals 107-96 to take an early lead in the series. Both teams shot over 51 percent in the game, but the Pacers out-rebounded the Heat 38-29 and Miami made just six of their 23 three point attempts.
The Pacers outscored the Heat each of the first three quarters and led by 13 points heading into the fourth period. The Heat played better late, but it was too late to mount a comeback and the Pacers were able to win their first Game 1 of the playoffs this season.
Indiana was led by All-Star Paul George, who ended up with 24 points, seven assists and a steal in the win. Center Roy Hibbert was also solid in the game by scoring 19 points and bringing down nine rebounds. Backup point guard C.J. Watson came off the bench to score 11 points for the Pacers.
Superstar LeBron James didn't light up the scoreboard in the game, but he did play well and finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Heat. Shooting guard Dwyane Wade had a game-high 27 points after shooting 12-for-18 from the field in the loss. None of the other Miami starters scored in double figures in the game.
