On Monday night, 24-year-old Zack Wheeler will be hoping to win just his fourth game of the season when he and the New York Mets face six-game winner Alex Wood and the Atlanta Braves.

Big right-hander Zack Wheeler had his shortest outing of the season last week against the Oakland Athletics and ended up suffering his eighth loss of the year. He could only make it through two innings in that game and ended up giving up six runs on six hits while walking two and striking out four. He is now 3-8 on the season, but he has been able to strike out 91 batters in 89 innings.

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman likes facing Wheeler, going 6-for-11 against him with a double, a home run and four RBI. Third baseman Chris Johnson is just 2-for-14 against him with two strikeouts.

23-year-old starter Alex Wood pitched seven scoreless innings against the Houston Astros on the road last week and ended up winning his sixth game of the year. He gave up just three hits in that start and walked one while striking out four. Wood has been able to strike out 67 hitters in 67.1 innings of work while only walking 16.

Mets veteran Daniel Murphy has four hits in his eight at-bats against Wood with two strikeouts. None of the Mets have been able to hit a home run off of Wood yet.
