Rookie starter David Buchanan (6-6) will try to win his second game in August for the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon when they face Tim Lincecum (9-8) and the San Francisco Giants.

David Buchanan had a decent start against the New York Mets at home last week, but he ended up taking the loss. He went six innings in that game and allowed three earned runs on four base hits while walking one and striking out five. He now has a 4.40 ERA on the year, but he has only walked 18 batters in 71.1 innings of work.

Buchanan will be getting his first chance to go up against the Giants on Sunday afternoon. He has held left-handed hitters to a .227 batting average this season, but right-handed hitters are batting .281 against him.

Tim Lincecum had a very short outing against the Kansas City Royals on the road last week and ended up suffering the loss. He went just 3.1 innings in that game and allowed six earned runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out two. He now has a 4.51 ERA on the year and has struck out 126 batters in 137.2 innings.

Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard has eight hits in 31 at-bats against Lincecum with two doubles, four home runs and seven RBI. Jimmy Rollins is just 7-for-33 against him with eight strikeouts.
