Edmonton Eskimos Stats
Edmonton hasn't been as consistent on the defensive side of the ball this season so far this year, but they have been able to make up for those inconsistencies by having a very good offense. They are currently a top-five scoring team and they also happen to have the top passing attack in the CFL. Their defense is giving up 25.5 points per game, but they've done well to pressure opposing quarterbacks, ranking third in sacks with 29 and second in interceptions with 14.
Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly, who has a league-best three CFL Top Performers of the Week awards this year, has thrown for 3,943 yards with 26 touchdowns passes and a league-high 11 touchdown runs. Fourth-year receiver Derel Walker is having another excellent season, catching 51 passes for 875 yards and eight scores. The team's top receiver, though, has been D'haquille Williams, who has caught 64 passes and leads the league in receiving yards with 1,235 and nine touchdown receptions. Running back CJ Gable has been able to average 5.4 yards per carry through 12 games and he has three touchdown runs.
Second-year running back Kwaku Boateng has been very solid for the Edmonton defense, picking up a team-high five sacks to go along with his 14 tackles. The team's leading tackler has once again been JC Sherritt, who has 62 tackles, three quarterback sacks and two interceptions. Defensive back Forrest Hightower currently leads the team in interceptions with three, which is a career high for the fourth-year player.
Ottawa Redblacks Stats
Ottawa has struggled a bit on offense this year, ranking sixth in points scored and near the bottom of the league in rushing touchdowns. They have done a good job of limiting turnovers, though, as they've only coughed the ball up 31 times in 12 games. Their defense has been very good, ranking third in the league in points allowed and first in the CFL in pass knockdowns with 41.
The Redblacks' offense has been led by running back William Powell, who ranks second in the CFL with 994 rushing yards and he's been able to average 5.4 yards per carry. Quarterback Trevor Harris has completed 67.9 percent of his passes through 12 games and he has thrown for 3,555 yards with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
The top player on the Redblacks' defense has been third-year defensive back Jonathan Rose, who has 30 tackles and leads the CFL with five interceptions. Linebacker Kevin Brown III is also having a solid year, picking up 52 total tackles and coming away with one interception.
