Saskatchewan has been able to play well this season despite not having a highly ranked offense or defense. On offense they are ranked fifth in scoring and they have one of the worst passing teams in the league, but they do rank high in both time of possession and rushing yards. Their defense is in the bottom half of the league in points allowed, though they are very aggressive and are ranked in the top three in both sacks and interceptions.

Roughriders quarterback Zach Collaros has played very well recently and has now thrown for 2,595 yards with 13 touchdown passes against nine interceptions. Running back Tre Mason has been one of the top rushers in the league this year by gaining 758 yards on 5.2 yards per carry, though he has only been able to score once on the ground so far this season. Their top receiver has been Jordan Williams-Lambert, who has caught 57 passes for 651 yards and four touchdowns.

Saskatchewan defensive lineman Willie Jefferson, who was named CFL Top Performer of the Week for Week 17, has 33 tackles, two interceptions, and nine sacks on the season; he's also been able to score two defensive touchdowns. Fellow defensive end Charleston Hughes is a favorite for Defensive Player of the Year this season thanks to his league-leading 15 sacks.

On offense they have been able to score just over 30 points per game while also ranking near the top of the league in both possession time and passing yards. Their defense has been the most feared in the league, giving up the least amount of points in the league while also forcing the most fumbles.

Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has been excellent for Calgary this season, throwing for 4,351 yards, 31 touchdowns, and just 13 interceptions. Wide receiver Reggie Begelton has had some strong performances in recent weeks and now has 25 receptions for 488 yards and one score. Running back Don Jackson has also had a solid year so far by rushing for 743 yards and two scores while averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

Stampeders' linebacker Alex Singleton leads the league with 100 tackles and he has also forced two fumbles on the year. Veteran defensive lineman Micah Johnson is having the best season of his career by coming up with 23 total tackles and 11 sacks. Defensive back Emmanuel Davis has 48 tackles and leads the team in interceptions with four.
