Toronto Argonauts Stats
The Argonauts have really struggled on offense so far this year, averaging just over 20 points per game. They're also in the bottom half of the league in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and sacks allowed. On defense, they've given up over 30 points per game, they've only accumulated nine team sacks, and they've only come up with five interceptions. Impressively, though, they are third in the league in forced fumbles with three.
Quarterback Mcleod Bethel-Thompson has played well for Toronto recently and he has thrown for 562 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception on the season. Their best wide receiver has been veteran S.J. Green, who has a team-high 30 receptions that have gone for 447 yards and two touchdowns. James Wilder has been one of the top running backs in the season as he's rushed for 465 yards for three touchdowns and he's averaged 4.6 yards per carry.
Linebacker Marcus Ball has been pretty consistent for Toronto so far this year, picking up a total of 38 tackles while also grabbing one interception and forcing one fumble. Defensive back TJ Heath is the team leader with two interceptions and he's also come up with 24 tackles. Lineman Cleyton Laing has 23 tackles and leads the team in sacks with four.
Montreal Alouettes Stats
The Alouettes are currently the league's worst team due to the fact that they have scored the fewest points and given up the most points. Their passing game has been one of the worst in the league and they are by far the worst possession team by only holding onto the ball for a little over 25 minutes per game. Their defense has only been able to come up with 16 sacks, but they do have nine interceptions, which is second-best in the league.
Without Johnny Manziel, it looks like Montreal will be letting Antonio Pipkin take the reins at the quarterback position for the time being. The 23-year-old has completed 12 of his 25 passes so far this season for 217 yards and a touchdown. The team's best offensive player has been wide receiver B.J. Cunningham, who has caught 34 passes for 396 yards and three scores through nine games. Running back Tyrell Sutton is averaging 4.8 yards per carry this season, but he has only been able to get into the end zone once.
Easily Montreal's most impressive defensive performer has been linebacker Henoc Muamba, who currently leads the CFL with 59 tackles while also coming up with two sacks. Veteran defensive end Jamaal Westerman has 25 tackles on the year and he also has a team-best three sacks.
