Thursday night, the San Jose Sharks will continue their trip to the East Coast with a game against the New York Islanders. It will be a battle of two 3-0-0 teams.
The San Jose Sharks will come into the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum after edging the Washington Capitals Tuesday night. Although the Sharks won that game in a shootout, the game shouldn’t have made it that far. San Jose raced to a 3 - 0 lead in the 1st period. And even after a Washington goal cut the lead to 3 – 1, San Jose went up 4 - 1. But the Sharks let the Caps hang around and Washington erased a 5 - 3 deficit with two 3rd period goals to send the game to overtime. San Jose managed to escape with a goal in the shootout. Against the Islanders, the Sharks might not get a chance to come back if they blow another lead.
The New York Islanders crushed their intercity rivals the New York Rangers 6 - 3 on Tuesday night. It was a game that was close in the beginning and tied at 2 -2 entering the 3rd period. But the Islanders opened the 3rd with 3 straight goals to break the game open. That is the type of scoring that the Sharks will have to look out for even though the Sharks are 2nd in goals against. If San Jose gets the lead, they better limit the Islanders chances or the game might get away from them quickly.
