2024-25 Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
by Ryan Cobbett - 10/22/2024
The Bearcats did not earn their spot in the preseason AP Top 25 based off last year’s results. After starting the season winning 12 of their first 14 games, Cincinnati went just 7-11 in conference play last season, finishing 11th in the Big 12. They went 22-15 overall and posted a 4-8 record against AP Top 25 opponents. After making some noise in the conference tournament, that included beating Kansas by 20, the Bearcats earned extended postseason play as they got a spot in the NIT Tournament.
2024-25 Florida Gators Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
by Ryan Cobbett - 10/22/2024
The Florida Gators showcased one of the most explosive offenses in the country and gave us some real classics down the home stretch of the regular season. In what seemed like shootout after shootout, Florida finished 11-7 in the Southeastern Conference, which was the sixth best conference record.
2024-25 Indiana Hoosiers Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
by Ryan Cobbett - 10/22/2024
Last season was not a kind one to Hoosier fans as they saw virtually no postseason play after a 19-14 season. Indiana started the season winning seven of their first eight games, but it was clear they would not be able to keep up with the stronger competition that awaited them in conference play. The Hoosiers went just 10-10 in Big Ten play, while going 0-6 against AP Top 25 opponents.
2024-25 Texas Longhorns Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
by Ryan Cobbett - 10/22/2024
Texas was a solid team last season, but proved they could not hang around with the big boys on their schedule. They started the season winning 11 of their first 13 games, but their two losses were to #5 UConn and #8 Marquette. They proceeded to go 9-9 in conference play, going just 3-6 against ranked opponents. The Longhorns got knocked off in the first round of the Big 12 tournament, losing to Kansas State 78-74.
2024-25 UCLA Bruins Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
by Ryan Cobbett - 10/22/2024
In their final season as a member of the Pac-12, the UCLA Bruins finished below .500 overall with a 16-17 record while going just 10-10 in the conference. UCLA struggled to find any momentum in their season as they went 0-5 against AP Top 25 teams while also racking up some silly home losses to Cal State Northridge and Stanford.
2024-25 Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
by Ryan Cobbett - 10/16/2024
The Kentucky Wildcats fell way short of their goal last season after a first-round exit in March. After finishing the regular season 23-9 with big time wins over Tennessee, Alabama, and Auburn down the stretch Kentucky was a huge let down when it came down to tournament play. They were eliminated by Texas A&M in their first game of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
2024-25 Ole Miss Rebels Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
by Ryan Cobbett - 10/16/2024
The Ole Miss Rebels thrived last season with Chris Beard leading the way. Beard led Ole Miss to their first 20-win season since 2019 and he has now had another offseason to shape up the roster more to his liking. Ole Miss started the season winning 13 games in a row and was undefeated heading into conference play. Conference play was not as kind to the Rebels.
2024-25 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
by Ryan Cobbett - 10/15/2024
Last season was not particularly kind to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, as they finished 15-17 overall and just 7-13 in Big Ten play. Rutgers conference record put them ahead of only Michigan in the Big Ten standings. They struggled offensively all season and were not competitive against ranked teams, as they went 1-4 with a -55-point differential.

Analytics and College Basketball Betting: the Numbers Sometimes Lie
by Joey House - 3/8/2024
I've always been a numbers guy. If you've ever seen the movie "Fever Pitch" starring Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore, Drew's character Lindsey Meeks is a business consultant who deals with numbers and statistics. She asked a group of kids that she was talking to during a school trip "Are any of you in the habit of looking at numbers... rearranging them in your head to make more interesting patterns?" and one of the kids replied, "Oh, my God, she knows my secret shame." I was that kid growing up.

Another crazy week of college hoops has passed by with multiple storylines. Farleigh Dickinson’s squad was stuck in an elevator, delaying the game, Bill Self was ejected after a bad loss at Texas Tech, Ohio State has moved on from their coach, and four unranked teams took down their Top 25 ranked opponents. But in perhaps the biggest news of the week, the Detroit Mercy Titans have claimed victory number one on the season, improving their record to 1-26.

2024 Wooden Award Odds and Predictions with Expert College Basketball Handicapping

Can anyone catch Purdue’s Zach Edey? The defending award winner from last year is the clear-cut favorite to repeat in 2024 and an expensive price to pay if you want to throw a wager on the Boilermaker. Have no fear, because there are plenty of good value bets to place on his competition. A few bad weeks or an injury can put other players right back in the race for the coveted award.

Last night, three Top 25 teams took the court, and all three games were decided by one possession. No. 10 Illinois held off Michigan State, No. 24 Florida Atlantic edged out Tulane on a questionable call, and No. 23 Gonzaga suffered their fifth loss of the season already as they fell to Santa Clara, 77-76. On Wednesday, three Top 10 teams lost as Kansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee lost to unranked opponents. Things are heating up as we continue through conference play, so let’s take a look at some other interesting notes around the country.
