As we near the final stretch of the season, there is the potential for a lot of chaos to ensue over the next 60 days. With all the potential, we need to take a look at some of those teams primed for the storm and those who may not reach the penultimate goal of making it to March. In this article, I will discuss two teams who have fallen from their normal standing while looking at two teams who have quietly risen the rankings and are looking to make a deep run this postseason.
2024 Wooden Award Odds and Predictions with Expert College Basketball Handicapping
by Matt Zitt - 1/22/2024
Can anyone catch Purdue’s Zach Edey? The defending award winner from last year is the clear-cut favorite to repeat in 2024 and an expensive price to pay if you want to throw a wager on the Boilermaker. Have no fear, because there are plenty of good value bets to place on his competition. A few bad weeks or an injury can put other players right back in the race for the coveted award.

After another crazy week full of upsets, it is time for another edition of our CBB Friday Roundup series. This week we have seen six Top 25 teams fall to unranked opponents, further adding to the conference play noise that has been so prevalent this year. As we march our way towards the postseason, let’s take a look at not only the best conference, but how it will be next season, as well as two more teams to highlight as chaos candidates, and who has been beating Vegas the most since conference play began.
Expert College Basketball Handicapping Roundup + Saturday Free Pick for 1/13/2024
by Ryan Cobbett - 1/12/2024
Last night, three Top 25 teams took the court, and all three games were decided by one possession. No. 10 Illinois held off Michigan State, No. 24 Florida Atlantic edged out Tulane on a questionable call, and No. 23 Gonzaga suffered their fifth loss of the season already as they fell to Santa Clara, 77-76. On Wednesday, three Top 10 teams lost as Kansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee lost to unranked opponents. Things are heating up as we continue through conference play, so let’s take a look at some other interesting notes around the country.
2024 Big 12 Basketball Predictions for the Regular Season
by Matt Zitt - 1/11/2024
The Big 12 Conference has six teams inside the Top-25 and should be an exciting race for the conference title. Kansas is always the popular play as Bill Self and the Jayhawks have had at least a share of the Big 12 regular season title in 17 seasons since 2003. The regular season test will not come easy to Kansas this year, with new additions of Houston, Cincinnati, BYU and UCF, and the always tough-challengers of Baylor, Kansas State, Texas and others lying in wait. Doc’s Sports will break down how the Big 12 could shake out below.
2024 SEC Basketball Predictions with Futures Odds
by Matt Zitt - 1/9/2024
Last season, the SEC sent the most teams into the NCAA Tournament, with eight programs participating. This season should be more of the same, as the competition within the SEC is some of the best in the entire country. The regular season conference title is up for grabs, as six teams have less than 20-1 odds to be crowned a champion. The biggest SEC storyline must be the Kentucky Wildcats and John Calipari.
2024 ACC Basketball Predictions with Futures Odds
by Matt Zitt - 1/5/2024
In my opinion, there is nothing better than Duke vs. North Carolina on the hardwood. It is like the Yankees playing the Red Sox or the Steelers playing the Ravens. You know you will be entertained until the clock hits zero. So, no surprise the two blue bloods are the leading odds to win the ACC this season. Can anyone catch them? There are currently six teams with odds at less than 10-1 to win the ACC regular season title. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best bets below on who can win the crown.
2024 Big East Basketball Predictions for the Regular Season
by Matt Zitt - 1/4/2024
One of the best parts of the new year is college basketball ramps up with conference play. The Big East Conference held the last laugh last season as the UConn Huskies cut down the nets after a 16-point victory over San Diego State in the National Championship Game. What is funny is that the Huskies finished fourth last year in the regular season in the Big East. Dan Hurley’s squad looks just as good this year, and it appears most teams in the conference will be chasing UConn and Marquette.
Expert College Basketball Handicapping Roundup + Friday Free Pick for 12/29/2023
by Ryan Cobbett - 12/28/2023
With the holiday, we are pushing up our Friday Round-up series to Thursday this week. We are coming off the holiday break, and teams are back to practicing, with some in action tonight. As it stands now, Purdue sits atop the country, while Kansas, Houston, and Arizona round out the top four and other No. 1 seeds in Bracketology. The three remaining unbeatens mentioned in last week’s article still remain, as Houston, James Madison, and Ole Miss have yet to lose this season. With little action to cover from the last article, let’s take a look at some notes around the league.

Let’s take a look at some money-making trends around the nation in CBB. We have seen an insane number of upsets this season as nonconference play has been surreal. We have had teams rise and fall out of the No. 1 spot, while teams like Michigan State have just been beaten up to start the year. We are just a few games away from conference play, so let’s look at some talking points from nonconference play so far.
College Basketball Handicapping: Major Conference Dark Horses
by Ryan Cobbett - 11/7/2023
With the college basketball season upon us, let’s take a look at some dark horse candidates ahead of tipoff. How do we define a dark horse in a league with so much chance and opportunity with all these automatic bids and deep tournament roster? In the November edition of this article, a dark horse will be a team that could sneak into the tournament bracket later this season. When we make our brackets in the spring, we all hope to find the Miami’s and the Pittsburgh’s to mess up the brackets, so here are some Major Conference teams that might be worth some attention as we begin another glorious season of college hoops.

2023 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 3/1/2023
It isn’t always pretty basketball, but the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament always comes through when you are looking for drama and emotion. This tournament, which has its championship game this coming Sunday, really tips off the start of March Madness and hammers home the reality facing every team in the country over the next month: if you lose, your season may be over.
College Basketball Betting Advice: Betting on Bubble Teams
by Robert Ferringo - 2/22/2023
For the uninitiated, a “bubble team” is a college basketball team that is on the fringe of an NCAA Tournament at-large bid. Because the criteria for selection into the tournament is subjective, there is no real way of knowing who is in and who is out heading down the stretch. This isn’t like, say, the race for the playoffs in MLB or NBA, where a team’s record is the sole determination of who makes the postseason and who doesn’t.
LEAKED: Opening Night College Basketball Spreads
by Robert Ferringo - 10/31/2022
Well, about nine years ago I cracked the code on how the initial oddsmakers come up with their opening college basketball spreads. No, I’m not going to tell you how I came about this information or where it is from. But I am feeling generous enough to share. So below are what will be the opening spreads for the beginning of the college basketball season on Monday, Nov. 7 and Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Biggest Comebacks in College Basketball History
by Mike Pruitt - 10/25/2021
Is there a more exciting time in the world of American sports than March Madness? I don’t think so. You can say Bowl Season is cool. However, does it really bring about the type of attention you get from sports fans as the NCAA Tournament? No! It's not even close. There are some massive college football games that garner a great amount of attention, and I love that too. However, are we really going to see the number of upsets that we do in that 3-4 week period that is the NCAA tourney?
Weekend College Basketball Primer
by Robert Ferringo - 2/25/2021
March is just days away. And that means that March Madness is here! The coronavirus pandemic robbed us of the conclusion of conference tournaments, the NCAA Tournament, and all the weirdo, second-tier tournaments last year. So now I feel the pent of gambling energy of two years built up inside of me. And I am ready to unleash the fury during one of the greatest sports betting months on the calendar.
2021 NCAA Tournament Projections and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 2/23/2021
What a mess. The college basketball season has been a disjointed, uneven roller coaster ride through the heart of one of the worst public health crises in the history of our country. But hey, we’ve made it this far. And now the hope is that everything will fall into place so that we can enjoy the conference tournaments and NCAA Tournament that we were robbed of last March.
