NBA Picks
The NBA is considered by many to be the best league for sports betting. Yes, the NFL is king in terms of popularity and wagering volume per game but nothing beats NBA basketball over the course of a season. Why? There are many opportunities to make NBA picks every night. NBA lines move more often and are not as sharp as football lines which are under the microscope all week. NBA odds have a much shorter lifespan meaning there are greater opportunities to find value. That gives Doc's basketball handicappers exponentially more opportunities to offer daily free NBA picks and be even more selective when offering expert NBA picks.
Free NBA Picks and Expert Predictions
You can find Free NBA picks throughout the Doc's Sports network including this free NBA predictions page; on our Doc's NBA Experts page; and on the Youtube channels of our expert NBA handicappers. We now also have a very popular NBA video section that is updated daily with several videos during the NBA season. Check the video link on the top navigation. Those ready to take advantage of our Free $60 in member selections can click the button at the top of this page and start receiving free expert predictions.
Get your NBA Picks Today, and Everyday!
Doc's offers expert NBA picks today and every day of the NBA season! Sure, there are the days when the NBA card consists of only tanking teams competing for the right to draft the next Zion Williamson. These teams are bad and their competition for an audience is Seinfeld reruns or maybe getting an extra hour of sleep. At Doc's we don't see this as trash basketball, we see this as a huge opportunity to make money...on trash basketball. Each day during the basketball season is an opportunity to make valuable and profitable predictions
What are NBA Picks Against the Spread?
Most NBA bettors are going to make NBA picks against the spread. This is also known as NBA picks ATS. Sportsbooks give each NBA team a handicap of X amount of points. That means if books think the Lakers are 4 points better than the Celtics they will offer a line of Lakers -4. If a Doc's handicapper has reason to believe the Lakers are much more than 4 points better, his pick against the spread would be to take the Lakers -4. This is how all bets on the spread work unless bookmakers consider both teams to be evenly matched, in which case the line is a pick, AKA pick'em. At Doc's the majority of our NBA selections are against the spread. However, there can be outstanding value on betting NBA totals.
What are NBA Over/Under Picks?
The pace of the game, as well as which team dictates the pace, is a key factor when handicapping basketball games. When pace is an especially strong signal, it may dictate a pick on the over/under. An NBA over/under pick is another way of referring to a prediction on an NBA game point total. NBA total lines are usually well above 200 in today's NBA making them harder for the betting public to find value. For example, the 2004 Detroit Pistons team was very consistently within 5 points of the 90 they averaged. In today's NBA, greater scoring means greater variance. However, professional basketball handicappers can use this to their advantage as the sportsbooks also try to keep track of the higher scoring NBA totals. Doc's sports NBA total picks are some of the best in the business and our total prediction write-ups are insightful. Along with offering our NBA expert picks, we provide free selections that are intended to help bettors with their handicapping legwork.
What are NBA Parlay Picks?
Parlay picks are sucker bets they say! Never bet and NBA parlay they say! Bettors that speak in these absolutes clearly haven't learned how to find value betting basketball. Sure, the payout on parlays at most sportsbooks have gone down to the point where putting two of your picks together for the sake of winning more is not a good investment. But what if your parlay picks could be made on the same game? That is called a correlated NBA parlay. Many sportsbooks offer the ability to make NBA bets against the spread and total in the same game. So if you have a great read on a game and expect one team to quit and fall behind, you may decide to make an NBA parlay prediction. At Doc's our experts will offer a free parlay pick in rare cases. It is not common because we need to find value for our customers on both lines before they move. If our parlay prediction is indeed on the same game, we need to confirm there is value regardless of the fact that you can't line shop the odds on a parlay. Both bets in a parlay must be made at the same sportsbook. If there is a free selection on the total over of -14 and under 200 it was offered knowing that those lines can be found at most Las Vegas sportsbooks and online.
What are NBA Playoff Predictions?
Once the regular season is over the NBA tends to resemble the national football league in many ways. Bettors have much more time to make their NBA playoff picks as teams travel to each other's arenas and rest between series. Making successful NBA playoff predictions is as much about when you bet as it is who you bet on. A series might not start for days. That means an NBA spread may move quite a few points especially as the public bets closer to the action. If we see value in a playoff prediction it will rely heavily on getting the line we are quoting in said NBA pick. In the words of the great Tony George, "We are betting numbers, not teams!" That may not be more relevant than when making picks on the NBA playoff games.

5-Unit Play Take LA Clippers -5.5 over Golden State (10 p.m. EST, Wednesday April 15)
2-Unit Play Take Golden State/LA Clippers UNDER 222 (10 p.m. EST, Wednesday April 15)
The Clippers would not even be in this position if not for a slow start to the season and they are a legitimate playoff team in our eyes. We expect a strong defensive performance tonight and Kawhi Leonard is rested for the Clippers and should have a big game. These teams always seem to play in low scoring games (the under is 7-1 in the last eight). And we think the Clippers take control of this and set up a meeting with the Suns for an invitation to the big dance.
Best of Luck – Doc’s Sports

3-Unit Play. Take #568 LA Clippers Team Total Over (113.5) points (10 pm, Wednesday April 15)
The Warriors can only win by outscoring the Clippers, but L.A. has the superior offensive talent. Expect a high-scoring night - Take the Clippers team total OVER.

6-Unit Play. Take #562 Philadelphia -1.5 vs Orlando (7:30 p.m., Wed, Apr. 15)
Coaching is always important but this is particularly true come playoff time. We saw that again yesterday as the Heat nearly, and should have, upset the Hornets in Charlotte. They had the coaching edge in that one with Spoelstra and if Bam Adebayo had not been hurt early in the game (on a dirty play by Alonza Ball by the way) the Heat would have likely won the game instead of suffering a 1-point OT loss. So about the coaching situation in this one, the fact is that Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley is overseeing a locker room with which he seems to have some disconnect at times. There is absolutely no reason Orlando should have lost outright to the Celtics (who were resting everyone) in the season finale. That inexcusable loss is why this game is in Philly instead of Orlando and that is significant as the Magic had a losing record in road games this season. I just don't see Mosley last much longer as the head coach of Orlando and I don't see them winning this game. Yes I am aware that Joel Embiid is out for the 76ers but how many times this season have the Sixers had Goerge, Maxey, Edgecombe, Oubre all available? The answer is not nearly as many times as you would expect. Maxey and Oubre had some injury issues and so too did George plus he had that 25-game suspension. Also, that suspension did not wrap up that long ago and the veteran Paul George has shown he is stronger as a result of all that time off. He is very fresh for the playoffs. This line is ticking toward Philly and rightfully so. The Sixers did get blasted by Orlando in one game this season but Maxey was the only one of their key five players that saw action in that game! The Sixers won the other two meetings with Orlando this season and Maxey averaged 36 points in those two games. He will lead the way again tonight but now the Sixers have George too plus Edgecombe and Oubre. Remember that George, Embiid and Oubre all played in only one game of the three with the Magic this season and yet Philly still took 2 of 3 games. The 76ers are a perfect 8-0 SU the last 8 home games against teams that finished the regular season with less than 50 wins! All 8 of those wins were by at least 4 points! This included many games when the Sixers had a lesser lineup than they will have tonight. So the point is the Sixers have been excelling when hosting all but the very top tier teams in the NBA and certainly the Magic are not a top tier team. All signs point to the Sixers taking that 8-0 run to 9 in a row here and, without hesitation, I will lay the short number in this one. 6* PHILADELPHIA -1.5

4 Unit Play. Take #567 Under 221.5 Golden St at LA Clippers (10:00 p.m., Wednesday April 15)
This is a good rivalry and a great matchup for the Play In Tournament. These teams have gone under in seven of the last eight meetings and this one should be low scoring as well as these teams ramp up the defense in a high stakes matchup. Both teams have been struggling a bit on the offensive end and can’t count on inconsistent players getting hot and the team that plays the best defense should win this one.

Take #561 Orlando (+2) over Philadelphia
*7:30 EST
Embiid is out and an ongoing issue all season long for the 76ers. The sum of all parts is better for Orlando and I think quite frankly they are the better team. Orlando is healthy and have their key components in place. The Magic had 4 out of their last 6 games where they had 123 points or more and were clicking on offense.
Philly lost 3 out of their last 5 games, all 3 losses against Playoff teams and all 3 losses by double digits. If Embiid was in this game, I would be on Philly, but he is not. Philly also has issues from beyond the arc, Orlando does not and Magic are one of the best in NBA at defending the 3 point shot. Both dogs covered on Tuesday and I think the Magic win outright.

4-Unit Play: Take 561 Magic +2 over 76ers (7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 15)
I’m taking the points with Orlando. Joel Embiid is listed as doubtful (appendix) and that spells trouble for the Sixers. Philadelphia has played .651 basketball when Embiid has played during his career. They’ve won just 40% of their games without him. And in fact, the Sixers are 53-97, (.353), without Embiid the last three seasons and here they are a favorite on Wednesday. This season, Paolo Banchero faced the Sixers in two of the three meetings. Banchero scored 32 points when Embiid was out but he struggled, making just 6 of 18 shots when Embiid played. While the Sixers have Tyrese Maxey, they will now be more guard-oriented and play at a quicker tempo. However, the Magic have the backcourt to thwart the three-guard approach. Orlando went through a lot of injury issues this season but they’re healthy now. I’m taking the points with the Magic. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

7 Unit Play Take #561 Orlando +1.5 over Philadelphia (7:30pm est):
I think the wrong team is favored in this one. Orlando is the better of these two teams especially with Philadelphia playing without big man Joel Embiid in this game. The Magic come into this one off an embarassing result in their regular season finale but I think they use that as a wake up call here in this contest and grind out a victory.
Play Orlando plus the points.
Thank you and good luck,

4-Unit Play. Take #568 Clippers (-5.5) Over Warriors (10:00p.m., Wednesday, April 15th)
The most surprising thing about this game is that Steph Curry is on a minutes restriction. Obviously he is dealing with injuries, but you would think with a game of this magnitude he would be let loose, but Steve Kerr says no, he will not play him past X amount of minutes, which the likely number is 30 minutes of play. Remember, the Clippers came back from the dead this season; they started the season 6-21 and went 36-19 since Dec. 20. Credit to Kawhi Leonard; he's obviously a six-time All-NBA forward and heads into the play-in round averaging eye-popping numbers at 28 ppg and 2.6 three-pointers made per game. The line opened at Clippers -3.5 and quickly rose, reflecting our belief that the Clippers will likely dominate the struggling Warriors.

6 Unit: NBA Take GS Warriors vs LAC Clippers (First Half: UNDER 107.5 Total Points) (10:00p.m, Wednesday, April 15th)
The NBA Play-In Tournament continues tonight with a high-stakes West matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the LA Clippers at the Intuit Dome. The big story is Stephen Curry being back in the fold. While he’s been active recently, he did miss a significant chunk of time earlier this season, and the Warriors' offense has been inconsistent during that stretch. Even with the "greatest shooter ever" on the floor, there’s usually a feeling-out process in these high-pressure elimination games. Both of these teams finished the regular season with records that suggest they are better than their seeds, but they’ve also shown they can go through scoring droughts. In a "win-or-go-home" scenario, teams tend to play much tighter, more physical defense early on as they settle into the atmosphere. The Clippers, led by a deep veteran roster, are well-equipped to slow the pace and force Golden State into a half-court game. I’m with you on the slow start. Expecting a defensive grind in the first 24 minutes before the desperation kicks in and the scoring picks up late. Take the Under on the First Half Total in the Warriors vs. Clippers game.

4-Unit Play: Take 561 Magic +2 over 76ers (7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 15)I’m taking the points with Orlando.

Wednesday April 15th 2026-7 Unit Play Take #561 Orlando +1.5 over Philadelphia (7:30pm est):
I think the wrong team is favored in this one. Orlando is the better of these two teams especially with Philadelphia playing without big man Joel Embiid in this game. The Magic come into this one off an embarassing result in their regular season finale but I think they use that as a wake up call here in this contest and grind out a victory.
Play Orlando plus the points.
Thank you and good luck,
Jason Sharpe

4-Unit Play. Take #568 Clippers (-5.5) Over Warriors (10:00p.m., Wednesday, April 15th)The most surprising thing about this game is that Steph Curry is on a minutes restriction.

6 Unit: NBA Take GS Warriors vs LAC Clippers (First Half: UNDER 107.5 Total Points) (10:00p.m, Wednesday, April 15th)The NBA Play-In Tournament continues tonight with a high-stakes West matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the LA Clippers at the Intuit Dome.
