NBA Picks
The NBA is considered by many to be the best league for sports betting. Yes, the NFL is king in terms of popularity and wagering volume per game but nothing beats NBA basketball over the course of a season. Why? There are many opportunities to make NBA picks every night. NBA lines move more often and are not as sharp as football lines which are under the microscope all week. NBA odds have a much shorter lifespan meaning there are greater opportunities to find value. That gives Doc's basketball handicappers exponentially more opportunities to offer daily free NBA picks and be even more selective when offering expert NBA picks.
Free NBA Picks and Expert Predictions
You can find Free NBA picks throughout the Doc's Sports network including this free NBA predictions page; on our Doc's NBA Experts page; and on the Youtube channels of our expert NBA handicappers. We now also have a very popular NBA video section that is updated daily with several videos during the NBA season. Check the video link on the top navigation. Those ready to take advantage of our Free $60 in member selections can click the button at the top of this page and start receiving free expert predictions.
Get your NBA Picks Today, and Everyday!
Doc's offers expert NBA picks today and every day of the NBA season! Sure, there are the days when the NBA card consists of only tanking teams competing for the right to draft the next Zion Williamson. These teams are bad and their competition for an audience is Seinfeld reruns or maybe getting an extra hour of sleep. At Doc's we don't see this as trash basketball, we see this as a huge opportunity to make money...on trash basketball. Each day during the basketball season is an opportunity to make valuable and profitable predictions
What are NBA Picks Against the Spread?
Most NBA bettors are going to make NBA picks against the spread. This is also known as NBA picks ATS. Sportsbooks give each NBA team a handicap of X amount of points. That means if books think the Lakers are 4 points better than the Celtics they will offer a line of Lakers -4. If a Doc's handicapper has reason to believe the Lakers are much more than 4 points better, his pick against the spread would be to take the Lakers -4. This is how all bets on the spread work unless bookmakers consider both teams to be evenly matched, in which case the line is a pick, AKA pick'em. At Doc's the majority of our NBA selections are against the spread. However, there can be outstanding value on betting NBA totals.
What are NBA Over/Under Picks?
The pace of the game, as well as which team dictates the pace, is a key factor when handicapping basketball games. When pace is an especially strong signal, it may dictate a pick on the over/under. An NBA over/under pick is another way of referring to a prediction on an NBA game point total. NBA total lines are usually well above 200 in today's NBA making them harder for the betting public to find value. For example, the 2004 Detroit Pistons team was very consistently within 5 points of the 90 they averaged. In today's NBA, greater scoring means greater variance. However, professional basketball handicappers can use this to their advantage as the sportsbooks also try to keep track of the higher scoring NBA totals. Doc's sports NBA total picks are some of the best in the business and our total prediction write-ups are insightful. Along with offering our NBA expert picks, we provide free selections that are intended to help bettors with their handicapping legwork.
What are NBA Parlay Picks?
Parlay picks are sucker bets they say! Never bet and NBA parlay they say! Bettors that speak in these absolutes clearly haven't learned how to find value betting basketball. Sure, the payout on parlays at most sportsbooks have gone down to the point where putting two of your picks together for the sake of winning more is not a good investment. But what if your parlay picks could be made on the same game? That is called a correlated NBA parlay. Many sportsbooks offer the ability to make NBA bets against the spread and total in the same game. So if you have a great read on a game and expect one team to quit and fall behind, you may decide to make an NBA parlay prediction. At Doc's our experts will offer a free parlay pick in rare cases. It is not common because we need to find value for our customers on both lines before they move. If our parlay prediction is indeed on the same game, we need to confirm there is value regardless of the fact that you can't line shop the odds on a parlay. Both bets in a parlay must be made at the same sportsbook. If there is a free selection on the total over of -14 and under 200 it was offered knowing that those lines can be found at most Las Vegas sportsbooks and online.
What are NBA Playoff Predictions?
Once the regular season is over the NBA tends to resemble the national football league in many ways. Bettors have much more time to make their NBA playoff picks as teams travel to each other's arenas and rest between series. Making successful NBA playoff predictions is as much about when you bet as it is who you bet on. A series might not start for days. That means an NBA spread may move quite a few points especially as the public bets closer to the action. If we see value in a playoff prediction it will rely heavily on getting the line we are quoting in said NBA pick. In the words of the great Tony George, "We are betting numbers, not teams!" That may not be more relevant than when making picks on the NBA playoff games.

4-Unit Play Take Indiana -6 over Milwaukee (5:30 p.m. EST Friday April 26)
We liked the Bucks to flame out in the playoffs even before the Freak went down with injury. Now we think it will likely be in the first round. The Lillard acquisition was a bad one for Milwaukee, and it has hurt their defense, while the offense hasn’t been consistent. The Pacers don’t play much defense either, but that isn’t their focus. And their offense is consistent. They match up really well with the Bucks and have won five of the last seven meetings, including a high stakes in season tourney game. We think they win this comfortably.
2-Unit Play Take LA Clippers +4.5 over Dallas (8 p.m. EST Friday April 26)
Kawhi should play here and he had one game to shake off the rust. They have shown they can win without him and if he can stay healthy this team could be a contender. With a healthy squad, this team is better than the Mavs, and they are built for success in the playoffs. Injuries have derailed their chances in recent years, but we think this series goes back and forth and we expect the Clippers to challenge for the win tonight.

7-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 207.5 Minnesota at Phoenix (10:30 p.m., Friday, April 26)
We should see Phoenix attempt to make a ‘last stand’ here at home tonight in Game 3, similar to what Orlando did last night against Cleveland. Now, I don’t think the Suns are going to beat the T-Wolves by 40 like the Magic were doing much of last night. But I am expecting this team to crack 100 points for the first time in this series. These two teams played here in November and it was a 133-115 barn burner. They also met in Minny on April 14 and that game had 231 points, so it’s not like they aren’t capable of lighting things up. Also, since that 133-115 game on Nov. 15, the Suns have scored 105 or more points at home in 34 of 36 games. The only two they didn’t both came in April and then they didn’t crack 105 in either game in Minnesota. I just don’t see that trend continuing. I think the Suns break 110 and the T-Wolves break 105 and this one gets about 220 points.
Carpe diem. Good luck.

4-Unit Play. #538. Take Phoenix Suns -4.5 over Minnesota Timberwolves (Friday @ 10:30pm est)
Note, 7*Soccer selection today which goes off at 12:30pm eastern. We posted a great 4*NBA winner on the Magic in a blowout yesterday and of course, 4* Winner on the Phillies winning 5-0 as well. And, we can't wait for the WNBA to begin on May 14th as well! We roll with Phoenix here as we simply cannot imagine a team led by Durant, Booker, Beal, Nurkic and company to end up going down 0-3. Phoenix lost by 12 points last game and they lost by 25 points in the game prior. Before that, they had beaten this team in 4 straight games. Phoenix is the same team that beat Sacramento, the Clippers by 16 on the road, the Pelicans and they were actually up at the half against Minnesota before falling short. This team is a little older, so they need the energy and the vibe of this Phoenix crowd to lift them as we have to admit, Minnesota is a very tough place to play and Phoenix will be energized by this home crowd like the Orlando Magic were in their last game when they won after being down 0-2. Phoenix had 19 turnovers last game and Minnesota shot an insane 30 free throws and those elements change today as wel ike Phoenix to get it done.

#534 Indiana *First Half Line (-3) over Milwaukee *5:30 EST
Note early start
I like the Pacers here with Middleton questionable for Milwaukee and they are off an absolute butt whipping of the Bucks in Game 2 by 17 points. This line has crept up to -6 overall and maybe that is warranted as the Bucks are 4 games below .500 on the road this year and we do have Doc Rivers as a bad head coach for them as well, and no Greek Freak is just killing the Bucks and Indy is exploiting them in the paint as Siakam has went off for 36 and 37 points in games 1 and 2.
There is no love lost between these two teams and Indiana has a strong home court and the locals will pack it to the rafters and i think Indy gets off to a hot start. I also expect Haliburton to play better at home as he has not been a big factor yet in the series. I can clearly see the Bucks up 6 to 8 points in the first half.

4-Unit Play - #533 Milwaukee +6-110 over Indiana (Friday, April 26, 2024, 5:30 pm ET)
Take Milwaukee ATS as my top NBA pick for Friday. This pick falls into one my top NBA systems and I really like this line with Milwaukee here today as I believe they can win outright. Milwaukee has averaged 116.7 points per game on the road this season shooting 48.4% as a team and I do expect Milwaukee to step up defensively here tonight after allowing hundred and 25 points in their last game against Indiana. Indiana shot 55.6% as a team against Milwaukee which will definitely not happen again here today as they shot just 39.6% against Milwaukee in the 1st game of this series. I also expect Milwaukee to be much more aggressive on the boards on the road here today. Play Milwaukee ATS as we move to 18-6 with my last 24 NBA plays.
Scott Spreitzer
7-Unit Play: Take 538 Suns -4 over T-Wolves (10:30 p.m., Friday, April 26)
Like Philadelphia last night, the Suns are in a must win spot because no NBA team has ever won a series after losing the first three games (0-151). Phoenix played well through the first half of Game-2 and got back to slowing down Anthony Edwards but couldn’t steal the win with a weak second half. The Suns had been dominating the Wolves before the postseason winning 10 of the previous 11 games. Phoenix is on a 5-0 SU & ATS run following two straight losses, winning by an average of 13.4 ppg. I’m backing the Suns on Friday night. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

6 Unit Play. Take OVER 207.5 #537-38 Minnesota vs. Phoenix (10:30 p.m. ET, Friday, April 26)
Phoenix has not sniffed 100 points in this series, scoring 95 and 93 in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. There is nowhere close to that much water in the Arizona desert and if the Suns fail to reach triple digits again, this series is all but over. Orlando was down 0-2 and came back to take Game 3 and the Lakers for a half was impressive against Denver. One would think the Big 3 from Phoenix have to be so embarrassed with how they have played, even if the T-Wolves defense is tremendous. It seems plain and simple the Suns' offense has to shine to give them a chance at winning Game 3. It is of note the last 17 times Phoenix had revenge off a road loss, the average total score has been 222.3 points and Minnesota is 13-3 OVER after allowing 105 points or less in two straight games, with an average total score of 228.1 points.
August Young
[NBA] [4-Unit] (538) Phoenix Suns -4.5 -110 over Minnesota Timberwolves (10:30PM EST) Similar angle to the Orlando Magic last night. The Suns are down 2-0 in the series after losing both Game 1 and Game 2 on the road. In database history, Game 3 home favorites in such situation are 61.2% ATS with an average win/point differential of 7.1 points per game. When looking at situations where the home favorite failed to cover either Game 1 or Game 2, this trend improves to 64.7% ATS with an average win/point differential of 9.8 points per game. Value on the Suns at the current market price.

7-Unit Play. Take #534 Indiana (-6) over Milwaukee (5:30 p.m., Friday, April 26)
The Pacers are ready and fired up for this home playoff game against the Bucks. Indiana hasn't had a home game in the post season since 2019 and the crowd will be ready. The line says a lot about this game as the Pacer are pretty heavy favorites. Game 2, was more like what I expected in this series as Indiana controled throughout. I was on Milwaukee in Game 1 as that was the perfect spot for the Bucks, but being shorthanded, and on the road, this could get ugly. Indiana does not want to allow Milwaukee to pick up any type of momentum, and they will want to keep control of this series by maintaining their new found home court advantage after taking Game 2 on the road. The Bucks were just 16-24 ATS on the road this season and they were an even worse 3-8 ATS the 11 times they were a road underdog. Lay the number on the Pacers here as they win by double-figures for the second straight game.
4-Unit Play. Take #538 Phoenix (-4) over Minnesota (10:30 p.m., Friday, April 26)
I really like Minnesota in this series as I feel they are undervalued due to the stars on Phoenix, but the Suns are not getting swept and this is the game that they grab. This game has a very similar feel to the 76ers game last night (an 8-Unit winner for us), in that they are desperate and they know that this game is the series. If the Suns lose this game they are done as they are not coming back from 3-0 down. Look for Phoenix to just play a better all around game and not give up the big Minnesota run that we have seen in the first two games. The Timberwolves have not been great as an away underdog as they are just 8-9 ATS in those spots. The Suns, have looked good at home over the course of the last month as they are 4-2 straight up, with all four of those wins coming by double-figures.

4 Unit Play - Take Phoenix (-4.5) Over Minnesota. (10:30p.m, Friday, April 26th)
Phoenix trails the series 2-0 right now and is in desperate need of a win here tonight. Phoenix ended regulation by going 49-33, 7-3 in their last 10 games, and on a three-game win streak. Minnesota came to play; that's a given. Phoenix shot themselves in the foot in game two. Minnesota managed to score 31 points from turnovers, resulting in just 2 points for Phoenix. The Suns finished 25-16 at home this season. Minnesota went 25-16 on the road. After tonight, Phoenix cannot go down 3-0 in the series. They've got to leave it all on the court tonight. This isn't a risky play on the part of Phoenix. This is a team that knows the entirety of their season rides on tonight, and I expect a massive game out of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
Take Phoenix (-4.5) Over Minnesota.

4-Unit Play - #533 Milwaukee +6-110 over Indiana (Friday, April 26, 2024, 5:30 pm ET)Take Milwaukee ATS as my top NBA pick for Friday.

7-Unit Play: Take 538 Suns -4 over T-Wolves (10:30 p.m., Friday, April 26)Like Philadelphia last night, the Suns are in a must win spot because no NBA team has ever won a series after losing the first three games (0-151).

ET, Friday, April 26)Phoenix has not sniffed 100 points in this series, scoring 95 and 93 in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Value on the Suns at the current market price.Strike Point Sports
7-Unit Play. Take #534 Indiana (-6) over Milwaukee (5:30 p.m., Friday, April 26)The Pacers are ready and fired up for this home playoff game against the Bucks.
2-Unit Play. Take #535 Los Angeles Clippers (+4.5) over Dallas (8 p.m., Friday, April 26)

4 Unit Play - Take Phoenix (-4.5) Over Minnesota. (10:30p.m, Friday, April 26th)Phoenix trails the series 2-0 right now and is in desperate need of a win here tonight.
