NBA Picks
The NBA is considered by many to be the best league for sports betting. Yes, the NFL is king in terms of popularity and wagering volume per game but nothing beats NBA basketball over the course of a season. Why? There are many opportunities to make NBA picks every night. NBA lines move more often and are not as sharp as football lines which are under the microscope all week. NBA odds have a much shorter lifespan meaning there are greater opportunities to find value. That gives Doc's basketball handicappers exponentially more opportunities to offer daily free NBA picks and be even more selective when offering expert NBA picks.
Free NBA Picks and Expert Predictions
You can find Free NBA picks throughout the Doc's Sports network including this free NBA predictions page; on our Doc's NBA Experts page; and on the Youtube channels of our expert NBA handicappers. We now also have a very popular NBA video section that is updated daily with several videos during the NBA season. Check the video link on the top navigation. Those ready to take advantage of our Free $60 in member selections can click the button at the top of this page and start receiving free expert predictions.
Get your NBA Picks Today, and Everyday!
Doc's offers expert NBA picks today and every day of the NBA season! Sure, there are the days when the NBA card consists of only tanking teams competing for the right to draft the next Zion Williamson. These teams are bad and their competition for an audience is Seinfeld reruns or maybe getting an extra hour of sleep. At Doc's we don't see this as trash basketball, we see this as a huge opportunity to make money...on trash basketball. Each day during the basketball season is an opportunity to make valuable and profitable predictions
What are NBA Picks Against the Spread?
Most NBA bettors are going to make NBA picks against the spread. This is also known as NBA picks ATS. Sportsbooks give each NBA team a handicap of X amount of points. That means if books think the Lakers are 4 points better than the Celtics they will offer a line of Lakers -4. If a Doc's handicapper has reason to believe the Lakers are much more than 4 points better, his pick against the spread would be to take the Lakers -4. This is how all bets on the spread work unless bookmakers consider both teams to be evenly matched, in which case the line is a pick, AKA pick'em. At Doc's the majority of our NBA selections are against the spread. However, there can be outstanding value on betting NBA totals.
What are NBA Over/Under Picks?
The pace of the game, as well as which team dictates the pace, is a key factor when handicapping basketball games. When pace is an especially strong signal, it may dictate a pick on the over/under. An NBA over/under pick is another way of referring to a prediction on an NBA game point total. NBA total lines are usually well above 200 in today's NBA making them harder for the betting public to find value. For example, the 2004 Detroit Pistons team was very consistently within 5 points of the 90 they averaged. In today's NBA, greater scoring means greater variance. However, professional basketball handicappers can use this to their advantage as the sportsbooks also try to keep track of the higher scoring NBA totals. Doc's sports NBA total picks are some of the best in the business and our total prediction write-ups are insightful. Along with offering our NBA expert picks, we provide free selections that are intended to help bettors with their handicapping legwork.
What are NBA Parlay Picks?
Parlay picks are sucker bets they say! Never bet and NBA parlay they say! Bettors that speak in these absolutes clearly haven't learned how to find value betting basketball. Sure, the payout on parlays at most sportsbooks have gone down to the point where putting two of your picks together for the sake of winning more is not a good investment. But what if your parlay picks could be made on the same game? That is called a correlated NBA parlay. Many sportsbooks offer the ability to make NBA bets against the spread and total in the same game. So if you have a great read on a game and expect one team to quit and fall behind, you may decide to make an NBA parlay prediction. At Doc's our experts will offer a free parlay pick in rare cases. It is not common because we need to find value for our customers on both lines before they move. If our parlay prediction is indeed on the same game, we need to confirm there is value regardless of the fact that you can't line shop the odds on a parlay. Both bets in a parlay must be made at the same sportsbook. If there is a free selection on the total over of -14 and under 200 it was offered knowing that those lines can be found at most Las Vegas sportsbooks and online.
What are NBA Playoff Predictions?
Once the regular season is over the NBA tends to resemble the national football league in many ways. Bettors have much more time to make their NBA playoff picks as teams travel to each other's arenas and rest between series. Making successful NBA playoff predictions is as much about when you bet as it is who you bet on. A series might not start for days. That means an NBA spread may move quite a few points especially as the public bets closer to the action. If we see value in a playoff prediction it will rely heavily on getting the line we are quoting in said NBA pick. In the words of the great Tony George, "We are betting numbers, not teams!" That may not be more relevant than when making picks on the NBA playoff games.

7-Unit Play Take San Antonio -6.5 over LA Clippers (9:40 p.m. EST, Friday March 6)
The Spurs are on a back-to-back after their big win over Detroit last night, but San Antonio has been very good on back-to-backs recently. They have won and covered in their last four in this situation. They were at home last night and will be again tonight, so the B2B doesn’t really hurt them as much as it might if either of the games were on the road, plus the Spurs have a young and athletic team with great depth. The B2B is of no concern to us. The Clippers have been playing great and covering a lot of spread lately. But now they are getting hit with injuries a bit as Collins is out for a few games. They also lost Niederhauser for the season. The young player had been getting more playing time recently (around 16 minutes a game in the last 10 games) because of the lack of depth on this team. That he was even playing that much shows the lack of depth for this team, and this team just can’t withstand injuries right now and stay competitive. Kawhi can’t do it all himself. The Spurs have plenty of players that can step up in the case of injuries. San Antonio barely broke a sweat in their easy win vs. Detroit last night and we expect a similar result tonight.

7-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 229.5 Miami at Charlotte (7 p.m., Friday, March 6)
Charlotte has held three straight opponents under 100 points. That’s nearly unheard of in the current NBA. This is not some super defense. They are No. 16 in field goal defense and No. 16 in 3-point defense. They allow an average of 112 points per game on the season. So that means this current form is a statistical anomaly due for regression. Charlotte’s last three opponents have shot a combined 93-for-239 (39%) and they were a bizarre 24-for-105 (23%) from 3-point range. The Mavs shot 3-for-22 from deep! That’s almost impossible. Miami never needs an excuse to score. They play at the fastest pace in the NBA and they haven’t been held below 110 but once since Jan. 10. Charlotte has only been held below 109 four times during that same time period. The Heat have also been very good on the road, averaging 120 points away from home over their last 11 road games. And Charlotte shoots well in its own barn. I see both teams chucking a lot of threes and I think at least two of these quarters will have 60+ points in them.
Carpe diem. Good luck.

7-Unit Play. Take #509 NY Knicks (-1.5) Over Denver (9 p.m., Friday, March 6)
The banged-up Nuggets are in a tough spot — in back to back after beating the Lakers last night and now facing a red-hot Knicks squad. New York is 3–1 straight up and 4–0 ATS in its last four. A rested, healthy Knicks team faces Denver missing several key players and an injured Murray (knee-to-thigh issue late last night). Take the Knicks to win and cover on the road tonight.

6-Unit Play. Take #511 LA Clippers +7 at San Antonio (9:40 p.m., Friday, March 6)
The Spurs are in a tough B2B spot and off a big win over a solid Pistons team. Wemby could be limited in a B2B spot like this and the Clippers are another tough team for SA to deal with and that is not easy in a B2B. This is especially true when you consider that LA comes in rested. Note that the Clippers have won 3 straight games and are on a 24-10 long-term run. Also, in the last 11 games for Los Angeles, they don't have a single loss by more than 7 points! Teams are going to really start gunning for the Spurs with how hot they have been and a quality team like the Clippers with a rest edge is the kind of team that will give San Antonio trouble in a spot like this. Look for this one to go down to the wire as it is truly a tough spot for the Spurs even though they are at home. 6* LA CLIPPERS +7

3-Unit Play. #504. Take Boston Celtics -15.5 over Dallas Mavericks (Friday @ 7pm est)
I know, scary to lay this many points. But, what you have here is a 21-41 Dallas team facing Boston and given that Boston already beat them once this year is a reason to hesitate back in February, but keep in mind that Boston has Tatum coming back today, this is a fantastic public fade and man is Boston going to be ticked beyond belief after losing to the Hornets - at home - scoring less than 90 points and getting beat 89-118 as they gave up nearly a 120 points too. They lost so bad and they were so upset, they brought back Tatum in their next game immediately lol. We get a Boston team on the bounce-back, a team that had a terrible offensive production, defensive production and the excitement of Tatum coming back and I think that is good enough for us to lay these points here.

Take #506 Houston (-6) over Portland
*8 EST
Great setup for the home town Rockets. We are catching them off a 2 point loss to Golden State last night in OT, and also avenging back to back losses to Portland this year so a double revenge game. We also are caching the Blazers on their 5th straight road game. Game opened at 7 and because of an OT game last night I can see money going towards Portland, but they have some injury issues and a bad defense does not travel well, especially late into a road run like they are on.
I like fading teams on the last game of an extended road trip and despite 2 out of 4 wins on the road here, the 2 good teams the Blazers played they got blown out by double digits. I think Houston steps up tonight.

7-Unit Play: #509 New York -1.5-110 over Denver (Friday, March 6, 2026, 9:10pm ET)
Take New York ATS as my top NBA pick for Friday night. This pick falls into one of my top NBA systems and I really like New York in the spot on the road against a Denver team that just played Los Angeles last night. New York has been playing some of their best basketball of the season with a dominant victory against San Antonio along with a dominant victory at Toronto and then they just lost by three points against the best team in the NBA Oklahoma City. New York has covered the spread in forestry games and they have also won three straight games against Denver including their only meeting this season. New York has shot 47.1% as a team overall the season including 37.4% from beyond the arc averaging 117 points per game and this is a New York team that has held opponents to just 110.8 points per game against them overall this season. Play New York ATS

4-Unit Play: Take 512 Spurs -7.5 over Clippers (9:40 p.m., Friday, March 6)
We played the Spurs last night and enjoyed their win & cover over Detroit and I’m back on them on Friday. The Spurs are on a 13-1 run (11-3 ATS), winning by 13 ppg. They’re playing their second of back to back nights but their 9-3 SU/ATS when playing without rest including a 4-0 SU/ATS run. I’m laying the points with the Spurs. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

7-Unit Play. Take #509 NY Knicks Vs #510 DEN Nuggets (1st Half Line, OVER 118 Total Points). (9:00p.m, Friday, March 6th)
Denver comes into this game on back-to-back spots after beating the Lakers last night in a high-scoring 120-113 final. The public is going to look at this spot and immediately expect a worn-out, fatigued Denver team. New York is 40-23 on the year, 6-4 in their last 10 games, and coming off a low-scoring 100-point loss to OKC at home on Wednesday. This is a strong synergy spot for the Knicks whilst Denver still has gas in the tank. We do believe Denver is going to wear down, but not until the second half. This gives us a perfect angle to zap the first half OVER, as we expect this game to be all offense with minimal defense intact.

4 Unit: NBA Take #511 LA Clippers (+7.5) over SA Spurs (-110) (9:30p.m, Friday, March 6th)
San Antonio is coming off a win last night against Detroit and now faces a Clippers team that has been playing competitive basketball and covering numbers lately. Even after moving Harden, the Clippers have continued to battle and stay within striking distance in most games. Meanwhile, this is a tough scheduling spot for the Spurs with tired legs after last night’s road game. I’m not saying the Clippers have to win this game outright, but this sets up perfectly for them to keep it close and cover the number. Take the Clippers here tonight against a Spurs team in a difficult spot.

New York has shot 47.1% as a team overall the season including 37.4% from beyond the arc averaging 117 points per game and this is a New York team that has held opponents to just 110.8 points per game against them overall this season. Play New York ATS

4-Unit Play: Take 512 Spurs -7.5 over Clippers (9:40 p.m., Friday, March 6)We played the Spurs last night and enjoyed their win & cover over Detroit and I’m back on them on Friday.

(9:00p.m, Friday, March 6th)Denver comes into this game on back-to-back spots after beating the Lakers last night in a high-scoring 120-113 final.

4 Unit: NBA Take #511 LA Clippers (+7.5) over SA Spurs (-110) (9:30p.m, Friday, March 6th)San Antonio is coming off a win last night against Detroit and now faces a Clippers team that has been playing competitive basketball and covering numbers lately.
