On Thursday night, right-hander Tyson Ross (11-11) will be looking to push his record above the .500 mark when he and the San Diego Padres take on Zack Greinke (12-8) and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Tyson Ross pitched pretty well against the St. Louis Cardinals last Friday, but he ended up losing that game. He gave up three earned runs in six innings of work that day while walking four batters and striking out two. Ross still has a very good 2.70 ERA on the year and he has given up just 139 hits in 166.2 innings.

All-Star outfielder Yasiel Puig has three hits in 11 at-bats against Ross in his career and is the only player on the Dodgers who has hit a home run off of the right-hander. Carl Crawford is 6-for-10 against Ross with three walks and two doubles.

Zack Greinke pitched five shutout innings against the Milwaukee Brewers last weekend, but all he got out of that start was a no decision. He gave up just two hits in that outing and struck out six batters while walking five. He now has a 2.75 ERA on the season and he has struck out 9.7 batters per nine innings.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith has six hits in his 15 at-bats against Greinke with three doubles and a solo home run. Will Venable is just 2-for-15 against him with a walk and eight strikeouts.
