The New Mexico State Aggies (2-5) will have a pretty good chance to end their five-game losing streak when they visit the Idaho Vandals (0-6) on Saturday. The Aggies beat the Vandals 24-16 at home last season.
Last Saturday, New Mexico State were down 20-7 at the half against Troy and ended up losing 41-24. They had four turnovers in that loss and their defense gave up 571 yards.
So far this season, the Aggies have given up 37.3 points per game, which makes them one of the worst defensive units in the country. Wide receiver Teldrick Morgan has been the team's best offensive player by catching 53 passes for 675 yards and five touchdowns. Quarterback Tyler Rogers has thrown for 1,763 yards with 11 touchdowns, but he has also thrown 13 interceptions.
Idaho stayed winless on the season last Saturday when they were defeated 47-24 by Georgia Southern on the road. The Vandals' defense gave up 550 yards in that game, which included 349 yards on the ground alone.
Through six games, the Vandals have only been able to score 25.3 points per game against their opponents. Wide receiver Joshua McCain has been excellent this season by catching 43 passes for 665 yards and six scores. Running back Elijhaa Penny is only averaging 3.6 yards per carry, but he also leads the team with seven touchdowns.
