Game 4 of the quarterfinal series between the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks started off as a back-and-forth affair, but the Kings scored three straight goals midway through the game to propel them to a 6-3 victory. It was just the Kings' first win in the series, though, and San Jose now heads back home with a 3-1 series lead.
Four minutes into the opening period, Marian Gaborik scored his second goal of the series to give the Kings the early lead. James Sheppard was able to answer for the Sharks, though, with eight seconds remaining in the period.
Justin Williams made it 2-1 with a power-play goal early in the second before Matt Nieto tied it up again a few minutes later with his second goal of the series. Williams would score again late in the period, and Tyler Toffoli scored his first of the series to make it 4-2.
34 seconds into the third, Gaborik made it 5-2 Kings. Joe Pavelski gave the Sharks a little bit of hope midway through the period, but Dustin Brown sealed the win for Los Angeles with a minute and a half remaining in the game.
Brown finished with a goal and an assist in the win, while goalie Jonathan Quick ended up with 36 saves. Sharks netminder Antti Niemi had an off game, saving just 21 of the 26 shots he faced.
