On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Flyers will be playing in their third of five consecutive road games when they face the Anaheim Ducks.
Earlier this season, the Ducks were able to pick up a 4-3 shootout win over the Flyers in Philadelphia. In that game, the Flyers lost despite going 2-for-4 on the power play and outshooting the Ducks 42-28.
Flyers right wing Claude Giroux has scored two goals and assisted on six others in his eight games against the Ducks, while Wayne Simmonds has accumulated 11 points in his 22 games against them. Goaltender Steve Mason is 5-7-1 in his career against Anaheim with one shutout, a 3.29 GAA and a .890 save percentage.
On Monday night, the Ducks snapped their two-game losing skid when they defeated the Boston Bruins 3-2 at home. Netminder Frederik Andersen was the top star in that game by stopping 32 of the 34 shots he faced.
The Ducks currently have one of the better penalty kills in the NHL by stopping 84.7 percent of opposing power plays. Their top offensive player has been center Ryan Getzlaf, who has seven goals and a team-high 16 assists in 25 games. Right wing Corey Perry leads the team in goals with 14 and has scored that many in just 21 games. Andersen now has an 11-4-4 record on the year with one shutout, a 2.35 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
