The Nashville Predators long seemed to be on the path towards real contention in the Western Conference. The last couple of years have been a step back, though, and last year, when they finished 14th of the 15 teams in the Western Conference, was a disaster. They made the somewhat surprising decision to stick with Barry Trotz — the only coach the franchise has had. Oddsmakers are not optimistic that Trotz can turn things around — Bovada has the team at 50/1 to win the Stanley Cup as of August 15, which put them ahead of just four teams in the league. Those odds could move, so check below for the latest updates. They aren’t likely contenders, but they had a good offseason. They stole Seth Jones, the son of former NBAer Popeye, with the fourth pick in the draft and secured Viktor Stalberg, Matt Cullen, Eric Nystrom and Matt Hendricks with reasonable but aggressive deals.
