2026 World Cup Soccer Group H Odds and Expert Betting Predictions

The 2026 World Cup is now less than 100 days away, and the revamped group stage has created even more betting opportunities heading into the tournament. In Group H, Spain is the clear favorite to prevail, but their place in the knockout stage is far from guaranteed. Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and even Cape Verde know that a single victory could be enough to punch their ticket to the round of 32, making this a tightly contested group behind the Spanish favorites. Here are the Group H teams broken down with the best bets for how to attack the available betting markets.
Odds to Win Group H:
Spain: -450
Uruguay: +500
Saudi Arabia: +2000
Cape Verde: +7000
Odds to Qualify to the Knockout Stages:

Spain:
Spain is the clear favorite to win this group, and anything short of 9 points would be quite the surprise. While the 2010 World Cup victory, the first in the nation’s history, silenced the critics, the next generation of the Spanish national team must step up in 2026. They lost in the group stage in 2014 and were bounced in the first round of the knockout stages in 2018 and 2022. There is no shortage of talent all over the pitch for Spain to bring to North America. In defense, Marc Cucurella has been a thorn in many wingers' sides for the last decade, while Unai Simon and David Raya are two of the best goalkeepers in the world. A midfield of Pedri, Mikel Merino, and Fabian Ruiz is dripping with talent, while Nico Williams and Starboy Lamine Yamal lead the attack. Yamal is still just 18 years old. However, with three seasons at Barcelona under his belt, he is ready to make his World Cup debut this summer. Spain’s rock-solid defense has been the backbone of their success in the past, and it is important to note that they were bounced from the World Cup via penalty shootout in their last two appearances. Anything short of 9 points, or at the very least 7, will be seen as a huge disappointment for the Spanish national team given their cakewalk of a group.
Uruguay:
Uruguay has a long history of success at the World Cup, taking home the first edition of this tournament in 1930 as the hosts. They have qualified for five straight tournaments but have yet to reach the podium since their 1950 victory to become the first two-time champions. A 2010 fourth-place finish, fueled by Luis Suarez’s controversial handball, was the closest they have come in the modern era, and they will be looking to make a deep run this year. Suarez will still have a role to play for Uruguay, but fresh faces are leading the lines this year. Federico Valverde is the engine in the midfield, as his well-rounded nature has turned him into the centerpiece of this team. Ronald Araujo and Jose Gimenez are having great years in La Liga, and the defense of Uruguay will be a difficult nut to crack. As long as they can find some end product when they inevitably control the game against Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde, Uruguay shouldn’t have many issues sliding into second place in Group H.
Saudi Arabia:
Saudi Arabia was bounced in the group stage in Qatar despite claiming a 2-1 win over the eventual champions, Argentina, in the opening match of their tournament. There aren't many Saudi Arabian players playing in the top European leagues, with right back Saud Abdulhamid being the only player in the top five leagues. However, the rise of the local Saudi League has injected new life into this squad, which should not be overlooked when they head to North America. Holding firm on defense against Spain and Uruguay will be their primary targets, but a big win against Cape Verde could see this team sneak into the knockout stages as a third-place finisher. Despite not reaching the knockout rounds since their first World Cup berth in 1994, Saudi Arabia has won a group stage game in back-to-back tournaments, and the expanded format means that could be enough to reach the Round of 32 this year.
Cape Verde:
Cape Verde has reached the FIFA World Cup for the first time in their tiny nation’s history. While going on a deep tournament run is unlikely, a positive result against any of the other three teams could see Cape Verde sneak through. They have about the same amount of European talent as Saudi Arabia, and they have already been punching above their weight class to get this far. Logan Costa gets consistent minutes at center back with Villarreal, and a strong backline may be able to frustrate the pair of World Cup winners in their group. While knockout stage football would be a bonus, scoring their first goal or collecting their first point at the World Cup will be the primary target for this squad.
Predictions and Best Bets:
Spain’s betting markets are virtually unplayable, as your money is better spent than laying -450 odds on them to win the group or -5000 odds on qualification. If you really believe Spain will win this group, you are better off taking them to beat Uruguay when the two sides face off at shorter odds than -450. However, the better bet to make is taking a stab with Uruguay to win the group at +500. Both Uruguay and Spain are littered with top European talents, and a Uruguay victory wouldn’t be too far-fetched given the quality both sides possess. At the current odds, they are the only group winner option that makes sense.
In terms of qualification, there is one market I am all over. Cape Verde has +162 odds to qualify and -220 odds not to qualify, but I think those numbers should be much wider. Even three points with a win over Saudi Arabia may not be enough to seal the deal as a third-place team if Cape Verde gets blown out by Spain or Uruguay. This is the first appearance at the World Cup for this tiny island nation, and expecting a shred of success is unrealistic. Taking a -220 future is not the most fun bet in the world, but this is the most confident bet you can make in Group H, and could be one of the best bets of the entire tournament.
Pick: Uruguay to win Group H +500
Top Pick: Cape Verde NOT to Qualify -220
Predicted Group H Table:
Uruguay 7 Points
Spain 7 Points
Saudi Arabia 3 Points
Cape Verde 0 Points
