The Akron Zips and the Penn State Nittany Lions will both be able to show off their potent aerial attacks when they face each other on Saturday afternoon.
Akron were able to cruise to a 41-0 thumping over Howard last Thursday in their opening game of the year. They gained 513 yards in the win while holding Howard to just 68 passing yards and 216 total yards. Howard was only able to move the ball inside Akron's 20 one time in the game, but they weren't able to score before clock ran out at halftime.
Akron quarterback Kyle Pohl was 22-for-35 passing in the Zips' win for 304 yards and four touchdowns. He also lead the team in rushing by gaining 48 yards on the ground on seven carries.
Penn State passed for 454 yards against the UCF last weekend and were able to hold them off a late charge to win 26-24. The Nittany Lions held UCF to just 246 total yards in the game, but their three turnovers made the final score closer than it probably should have been.
Sophomore quarterback Christian Hackenberg threw for 454 yards and one touchdown for the Nittany Lions, but he was also picked off twice in the game. Wide
receiver Geno Lewis was Penn State's top receiver in the game. He caught 8 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown.
