Golden State Warriors at Boston Celtics Free NBA Picks & Odds
by Tony Sink - 3/3/2014
When the Celtics visited Oakland in January, it was a Stephen Curry jump shot with 2.1 seconds left that won it for Golden State. David Lee set the pick that set up Curry to hit the winning jumper over Kris Humpries. Andre Iguodala had 22 points, seven assists and five rebounds, and Curry finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Warriors.
Washington Wizards at Philadelphia 76ers Free NBA Picks, Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 2/28/2014
Hall of Famer Jerry West is one of the most important and influential men in NBA history. On the court he was a singular talent, to the point he is the league's logo. As an executive, he helped build the Los Angeles Lakers into the marquee franchise in the sport. The guy wins everywhere he goes (also stops with Memphis and Golden State). So when he talks, people listen.
Golden State Warriors vs. New York Knicks Free NBA Picks, Odds and Predictions
by Aaron Smith - 2/27/2014
The Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks will do battle Friday night in a game that will be nationally televised by ESPN. While the Warriors will have Thursday night off, the Knicks will be in Miami taking on the Miami Heat. Golden State and New York haven’t played so far this season. They split their season series last year, with each team winning on their home court.
New York Knicks at Miami Heat Free NBA Picks, Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 2/27/2014
You know how the NFL goes largely by the previous year's standings to determine which teams play in the Monday night and Sunday night highly-rated games? (Every team plays once on Thursday night). Perhaps the NBA will go to that model starting in 2014-15, and then we won't be subject to having the New York Knicks on national TV just about every night. Yet again the Knicks are featured in the TNT doubleheader this week as they visit Miami for the first time this season.
Houston Rockets at Los Angeles Clippers Free NBA Picks, Odds and Predictions
by Aaron Smith - 2/25/2014
The Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers sit third and fourth in the Western Conference standings. Only half of a game separates them. Oklahoma City and San Antonio are in the driver’s seat in the Western Conference, but Houston and Los Angeles are battling with Portland for the third-best record in the West.
Free NBA Picks: Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 2/24/2014
I absolutely loved what the Cavaliers did before last Thursday's trade deadline in acquiring center Spencer Hawes from Philadelphia, yet it has not had the desired effect thus far. Cleveland took a six-game winning streak into the deadline and is 0-2 since then despite Hawes playing pretty well. The Cavs are now five games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. I still think they get in -- barring an injury to Kyrie Irving -- because No. 8 Atlanta is sliding in a big way.
Free NBA Picks: Golden State Warriors at Detroit Pistons Odds and Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 2/24/2014
The Golden State Warriors kick off an extended six-game road trip through the Eastern Conference this Monday night with a stop at the Palace of Auburn Hills to face the Detroit Pistons. This game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. (ET), and it will be available on NBA League Pass.
Free NBA Picks: Los Angeles Clippers at Oklahoma City Thunder Odds and Predictions
by Chad Matthews - 2/22/2014
Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook, both recently returned from injury, will face off against each other during the Sunday matinee as the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Los Angeles Clippers at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Each player returned to his respective lineup this week after missing a god amount of time due to injuries, and as expected it will take time for the teams to adjust to these players back into their offense.
Free NBA Picks: Brooklyn Nets at Golden State Warriors Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 2/21/2014
If you are judging the moves made before Thursday's NBA trade deadline solely on the quality of talent acquired or a need filled and not paying attention to current or future salary cap implications -- I don't pay their salaries so what do I care? -- then I would argue four teams were clear winners: Indiana, Cleveland, Brooklyn and Golden State. The latter two face off Saturday night in Oakland in what I suppose could be an NBA Finals preview if LeBron James, Paul George, Kevin Durant, Tim Duncan and Chris Paul all get injured or drafted into the military before the end of the season.
Free NBA Picks: San Antonio Spurs at Phoenix Suns Odds and Predictions
by Aaron Smith - 2/20/2014
The big news over the past 24 hours in the NBA has been the action at the trade deadline. While it wasn’t an extreme deadline period, there were some notable deals right before the deadline on Thursday. The San Antonio Spurs made a small move at the deadline, while the Phoenix Suns stood pat on deadline day. Both of these teams are apparently comfortable with where they sit right now.
Free NBA Picks: Miami Heat at Oklahoma City Thunder Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 2/19/2014
In my opinion, this Thursday's game between Miami and Oklahoma City is by far the best TNT matchup of the season and might be the most intense game we see the rest of the regular season unless the April 11 Indiana at Miami game still has relevance in terms of home-court advantage in the Eastern Conference.
Free NBA Picks: Charlotte Bobcats at Detroit Pistons Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 2/17/2014
It's a pretty important game on Tuesday night in Detroit as the NBA resumes after the all-star break when Charlotte visits the Pistons. The two clubs are in many ways alike, and the Bobcats hold down the No. 8 playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with the Pistons just a half game back and with one game in hand -- they are even in the loss department. The clubs play again Wednesday night in North Carolina, so a potentially crucial tiebreaker will be in one of the team's hands by then. That's their third and last meeting of the season.
Free NBA Picks: All-Star Game Odds and Predictions
by Chad Matthews - 2/13/2014
On Sunday, New Orleans will host the 63rd NBA All-Star Game. This one looks to be another classic with many new stars making their all-star debut and old stars proving their continued worth to their respective franchises.
Free NBA Picks: Thunder at Lakers Odds
by Alan Matthews - 2/12/2014
The Thursday TNT nightcap this week is the final NBA game before the all-star break -- with no NHL games, either, is a very dry period for betting other than college hoops -- and it looks like a giant mismatch when Oklahoma City visits the L.A. Lakers. It's only the second of four meetings this season.
Free NBA Picks: Blazers at Clippers Odds
by Aaron Smith - 2/11/2014
The Portland Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers get together in the marquee matchup of the night Wednesday in Los Angeles. The first meeting between these two ended in a Portland win in overtime. That game was played in Portland.
Free NBA Picks: Heat at Suns Odds
by Alan Matthews - 2/10/2014
I'm not saying it's likely or anything, but why don't you hear much about perhaps LeBron James joining the Suns next season? James is a lock to opt-out of his contract, and most believe he will stay with Miami, especially with the gigantic mess that's going on in Cleveland these days. The Suns might have a compelling case to present to James. They could have as many as four first-round picks in the loaded 2014 draft and will be well under the cap. Phoenix has a nice backcourt of Eric Bledsoe (he'll need to be re-signed this summer) and Goran Dragic, and maybe 2013 first-round pick Alex Len can turn into something.
Free NBA Picks: Spurs at Pistons Odds
by Dave Schwab - 2/10/2014
The San Antonio Spurs continue a grueling nine-game road trip with a visit to the Palace of Auburn Hills this Monday night to face the Detroit Pistons in an inter-conference clash. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. (ET), and the game will be available on NBA League Pass.
Free NBA Picks: Rockets at Bucks Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 2/7/2014
The NBA's worst record ever over a non-lockout season was by the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers, who finished 9-73. That club, whose "star" was Fred Carter, put up 104.1 points per game. That sounds pretty good, but all teams scored back then. It was 13th of 17 teams. The Sixers gave up 116.2 per game, the worst in the NBA. I wonder if you could stage a best-of-five series if that club could beat the 2012-13 Milwaukee Bucks
Free NBA Picks: Trail Blazers at Pacers Odds
by Aaron Smith - 2/6/2014
The Portland Trail Blazers head into Friday’s matchup with the Indiana Pacers in the No. 3 spot in the Western Conference standings. The Indiana Pacers enter this game in first place in the Eastern Conference. They are three games ahead of the Miami Heat.
Free NBA Picks: Thunder at Magic Odds
by Chad Matthews - 2/6/2014
The Oklahoma City Thunder are showing basketball critics that they can win despite the absence of all-star guard Russell Westbrook. They also showed Wednesday night that they don't always need to have Kevin Durant score in the fourth quarter to win a close game.
